its difficult for him Comm....he simply does;t have the options we had at the back end of last season, but saying he really does have to look at the line up...as the one he is going for right now has given us 3 defeats and one draw.
He should have the same mentality as Big Sam had and go for clean sheets asap. Sam put so much store into clean sheets knowing we are always likely to nick the odd the goal..so to answer your question, I would go for those three together, so long as the organization is there. we need a solid defence, judging by the Middleborough and Everton games.
Agree with Flanders, i always thought Moyes built from the back. Everton still had 3 defenders in place on Monday night that Moyes brought in and Williams, good defence that is. Have to make Sunderland tough to score against as we are never going to outscore the opposition.
A couple of lines below taken from the under 23 post this morning sums it up for me. Both teams went into the fixture undefeated in the Premier League 2, Everton boasted a 100% record of five straight wins in all competitions and sat two points clear of the young Black Cats at the top of the league. So to counter Everton’s threat, Andy Welsh named three central defenders in his starting XI with Tom Beadling recalled to make his first appearance of the campaign after recovering from injury.
Were in for a hard test at Spurs on Sunday so I would try three centre halves. Try and get at least another ten minutes extra out of Kirchhoff as his going off did effect the team on Monday. Moyes talks about the youngsters bringing energy into the side but I would use Watmore as an impact sub. Khazri should start as game time is the only way he will get fit as I still think he's a little overweight. Our biggest problem is getting someone to hold the ball up front and give the defenders a breather, how he does that without playing two up front is Moyes biggest headache in my view. Overall I dont think were that far off being a decent team, and having Catts back is always a plus and hope he has a chance of playing this weekend.
Going three at the back will leave us short-handed elsewhere on the pitch. We don't want to be overrun in midfield and we need more presence in the final third. On this basis I'd keep the formation exactly the same. I'd stick with the same back 4 as dropping Djilobodji after the Everton game will do him no good. I would hope that they'd have been doing work on concentration and marking this week after the lapses in those things that lead to the Everton goals. I'd play a midfield 3 of Kirchhoff, Pienaar, and Gooch. With one of the first two dropping back between the centre halves when we're in attack to provide cover when the full backs go forward. Obviously, Defoe should start up top. Januzaj and Khazri have to start as the wide players but I'd give them licence to swap flanks as and when. We need more guile and nous in that part of the pitch and Watmore, for all his energy doesn't provide that at the moment. This is where I think letting Lens go was a bad idea as he could give us more of that.
he needs to learn that we simply never win when Rodwell plays, and that Watmore is more suited as an impact sub at this present time.
Hard to pick holes in your summary Norton, however, I might be on my own here, but I haven't seen enough from Gooch to have him in the 1st eleven at this stage of the season with us desperately needed results. He just looks rank average to me....as I say, just my opinion.
I'd swap Rodwell for a broken Sh1T House Mop!! It would be more Use and at least it would do a JOB!!!!
Don't need to change much. Team bonding and confidence building is what's needed. Everything else to run to the normal schedule. We lost because we capsized mentally. Nowt wrong with the abilitiy. So lets get them head strong. Running around making major changes to the line up won't build confidence.
That is just unfortunate and nothing else. It took Tottenham 25 attempts to win, with a guy named Gareth Bale, playing in their team.
He was one of our best players on Monday until everybody capsized, then everyone capsized. The only player who was playing badly until the first goal was Watmore. Everybody was ****e after.
Cheers mate. It's concerning how long it's taking Moyes to realise that Watmore simply isn't ready for premiership football, at the moment. It seems that Rodwell is taking a lot of ****e yet again, though.
As you know, I' rarely one to criticise individual players, but I just feel that he has had more than enough chances but just doesn't bring enough to the table..
