I am coming up from the Northants for the Arsenal game , and me and my mate are staying in a B&B in South Shields , whats the area like for bars and clubs? We will be getting a taxi from Shields to St James .

It has it's good areas and bad areas like all places.

If you're looking for a Party it's best just to head into town.

Wouldn't suggest taxi, that'll be expensive. Get the metro.

I never go out round there but would suggest drinking in the Town and going back on the last train.

Think you can get the Metro direct to St. James'.

Never realised there was any other means of transport other than taxi and bus , metro is now the better idea . Now i hope the metro is a late runner !

Last metro is 1130 back to South Shields from town. Still pubs open in Shields or a fantastic curry on ocean rd.

I'm sure you could tempt a lass back. Romantic ride on the metro, skinny dipping in water that is so cold it turns all males 5 years old. Say you will lick curry off their belly and partake in a bit of 'Tashing on', you'll be on it like a car bonnet!

I was born in South Shields; basically the whole point of the town is nights out. Tons of bars and clubs for your usual sort of dance night out in the centre and Ocean Road (also in the centre) is basically one long curry house with the odd chinese/italian/chip shop here and there. If you'd rather just do normal pubs than face an onslaught of half naked screaming weirdos, then I'd recommend the seafront which I'm informed has some newly renovated pubs along that people like to hop between. And yes, definitely get the Metro, don't get a Taxi unless you crap money.

The town centre has died a death. It is pretty ****e for a night out but a saturday you may have a decent night.

Seafront starting at the new crown and down to the sanddancer then rattler then sundial is canny if the weather is nice. If there is a band on in the sandancer i tend just to stop in there. The along to ocean road for a curry or kebab.

As for your ****e about 'scumberland' (horrific patter btw), shields is a sunderland town so i'd avoid spouting ****e like that when out on the pop.

Shields is half half surely, unless there's been some sort of mass Newcastle fan exodus in the last 10 years. Was definitely always equal amounts of both fans unless you're in areas close to Cleadon or something.
