Now your load has been lightened . My next game will be Inter btw. Almost definitely off work for that one.
Hey Tom, I'm going to leave it now. I just can't relate to your view of the world and I have tried several times to see it and point out a maybe, more open minded approach to you. You just Aren't prepared to even consider it, or should I say appear not to. I think that you'll never be happy and will suffer a lot of footballing disappointments. I think you're expectations are far too demanding and you show a lack of appreciation of the difficulty in situations. I can't even be bothered now to ask you how quickly you have adapted to new things in your life, new work things, new university subjects and if you ever struggled to get to grips with them in the equivalent of three games. You probably gave up.
And I genuinely think it's absurd to get bent out of shape and start flapping because we drew our first two home games of the season.
An important point (that may have been made; sorry if I've missed it) is that teams like Watford and Sunderland are no longer coming to play us as a mid-low table side with the possibility of a win. They are coming to grind out a draw against a regular top half side. Anyone who comes with that mentality is going to be a tough nut to crack. Watford and Sunderland were not going to be the walkovers that some fans were demanding. Vin
This is fair tough but the performances, particularly against Sunderland, were inept. Ok, the Arsenal performance was better, but we need to see something at home.
I think you are right there. I fear it could be his last season with us. At least we'll get good money for him as he's just signed a new contract.
Unlikely. Without exception, every single player we've sold in the past two years has been in the last two years of their contract, so I think you're being unduly pessimistic. Vin
Last year, we assisted 4 of the top 5 sides by selling them some of our best talent. Presently, and if you include managers as well, we've assisted 5 out of top 7. Sobering thought - just saying.
I can normally watch any premier league game, but it's getting stupid now. Watching former players and managers run rampant is so annoying. It wasn't so bad last year, as we were level pegging. This season so far it feels like watching most teams is a kick in the teeth. If we have a "poor" (12th downward) season, it will seemingly prove to the footballing world that these players were correct to leave us. Just think what we could have built and achieved if we had the resources. Bleurgh, I hate football.
I agree. If he, Van Dijk, Forster, Redmond, Austin etc all continue to improve and we finish around 10th then next summer we will have a seriously strong group of players all with 3, 4 or 5(!) years on their contract and aged around 24-27, with asking prices starting around £50m.
Being stood at SKD testimonial, I have never been more upbeat and positive with the players, manager etc. It really felt like this season would be amazing. Now it feels like it will be average as the key men have left! (Mané, Koeman, Pelle) We really need a feel good factor back - a resounding 4-0 on Thurs will do! I'm sure that once we get that first win, we can kick on. We have the talent in the squad. They just need confidence.
My feelings exactly. A win will give everyone a boost. It might not solve everything but it will give the players a shot of confidence in the system (which I still loathe). Granted Arsenal was better, and we once again had a fantastic opening 20 mins or so, just need to sustain that for longer. I'm really hoping/praying that once Boufal is fit, we'll see a change though. Squeezing Tadic, Boufal, Redmond and Long/JRod/Austin in a diamond would surely be counterproductive and a bit of a mess (not to mention that Davis barely got a look in against the Gunners). We've got players with so much pace and energy now...if we just started to use a bit of width we'd be such an exciting team.
I'm encouraged you say its only a little bit too much You have a point of course, our future crop of goals is based on a number of what ifs Proven goal scorers are rare and expensive and not necessarily available on our pay scales but I'm surprised we didn't find anyone
Not sure if this has been posted or not but unsurprisingly Madley isn't refereeing a Premier League game this weekend.
