Duff beer approached our group once at Bramall Lane. He said all the right things that day,he wore a clean white shirt and made lots of eye contact before finally allowed a family to have a photograph taken with himself. We sadly lost on the pitch that day but at least had some fun on route to the game playing a game called come out to play. That is all.. Bruce OUT
Bartlett was the spiv. Duffen the PR puppet. Might have been profligate at times, but made something work for a time with cash which in post-2008-property-crash hindsight only ever really existed theoretically on paper. He might have been the gambler, but he certainly wasn't the thief at times portrayed. He ultimately didn't make the big financial decisions. He didn't underwrite the club. Only really took a salary (plus "expenses" obviously). Didn't pull out the rug. Took a punt on Bullard but didn't appoint Dowie. The person who did was employed by the same spiv to balance the books in his own interest, flog the club, get the best return he could for his offshore boss and keep the spiv solvent. A dirty job but someone had to do it. At least he could use his cut of the deal to eventually part-finance his own purchase of Gateshull. Anyway, by now investec wanted their money back and would have asset stripped - not that there was much to strip by then. Hence we owe about double the debt to Allamhouse we should be seeing, and the current "break even" sale price is much higher than it should be. At least that's my take on it.
As a group of investors I would be happy with them, a balance of Chinese money and American sports knowledge could be good for the club. The clear consortium structure should help the fit and proper test. Can't see Duffen been massively involved in the takeover or future running of the club, most likely been used as an advisor in relation to the club. Very impressed with them taking in an U23 game
Why do people hold this view yet think the Allams have steered is to financial stability? Indeed, most clubs relegated from the PL have similar or worse financial burdens than we had under Duffen. I'm fine with him potentially being involved.
He's got no money so he hangs around people who have! He's what you call a chancer! But I can't imagine Ehab can see that?
See Adam Pearson when he first arrived at the club. He only made a personal fortune through his involvement with us.
2 totally different personalities! I'm not against anyone making money! Bit like I say (imo) he's a chancer!
You said someone who hangs around someone with money is a 'chancer' and that applied to Adam Pearson. FACT.
