I have been an interested listener to comments from Spammers regarding the chaos at the new stadium we paid for. It appears that the £7.37 that is being charged to the squatters for match day security and stewarding is insufficient to provide a safe environment for supporters. Who would have thought such a thing? Well, the owners of a football club do know how much these things cost. They've been paying those costs every year (albeit on a significantly reduced level for a much smaller ground). Also, one would have thought (or at least hoped), that the negotiators on behalf of the LLDC might have done some homework into what they were contracting to supply and the likely cost of doing so. However, it would seem in the unseemly desire to give the stadium away for as little as possible, the two parties have concocted a contract that fails to supply what is needed by way of stewarding and that puts fans safety at risk. Both should be subjected to prosecution for any injuries suffered by spectators due to the appalling failure. Those people have been reckless with the interests of their customers. I wonder if Gold, Sullivan, Brady et al are so used to getting stuff on the cheap that they will expect someone else to sort this out for them at the London Council Tax payers' expense? We shall see whether they give a **** if they put their hands in their pockets and fund something appropriate for the next home match.
During my foray into Spanner TV comedy after the Astra Zeneca sunday league loss, one of theirs made a comment about a bit of aggro that happened that night. Basically the guy was saying that whoever the LLDC are employing, tis obvious that they do not have the experience of stewarding work for top flight English football games. And that is before you throw the fact that the home supporters are the Spanners. So the Spanners got out of paying for normal stewarding. And the LLDC are no doubt similarly trying to provide stewarding on the cheap. Go figure.
Opportunity to watch Sunderland tonight, for anyone that fancies a preview of what we face next weekend. Everton are a good side, so it'll be interesting to see how they manage. Defoe gets another chance to close the gap on those ahead of him in the PL all-time scoring list, too. One more would put him level with Teddy Sheringham and four more would equal Les Ferdinand.
Former England and Manchester United defender Gary Neville says he has been "chucked overboard" after leaving coaching roles with England and Valencia this year: "The FA invested in me for four years. I'm the most experienced I've ever been yet you get chucked overboard, I'm only 41 years of age and you're regarded as a failure and the reality of it is the investment has to come through defeat and victory. "I've been to eight tournaments as a player, three as a coach, I'm probably the only English coach that's managed in La Liga at a top four club in the last 15 to 20 years, even if it's only for four months." FFS! Get over yourself you egotistical prick. You were a mega-disaster at Valencia and were part of the management team that lost to Iceland (nee Bejam). I'm surprised you were allowed back in the country and that your ugly mug is back on my telly. I'd have you sweeping the streets in Liverpool for a few years. Pipe down and take your medicine!
If he wants to be taken seriously as a coach, then he knows what he needs to do. Take a coaching job and do it successfully. It's that simple.
Sunderland already look pretty Moyesy. Organised defence, solid deep midfielders, tricky wingers and a hard-working striker. Kirchhoff had a very good first half. Big improvement since his shambolic debut against us.
1-0 to Everton. Lukaku finally gets one. Nobody near him. Moyes will be very unhappy with that, but it's the sub that he brought on that blew it in the midfield.
2-0. Lukaku with another virtually unmarked header. Moyes undone by his own man. Koeman removed Barkley at half-time and it's certainly worked. Look far more effective.
3-0. Lukaku looks unstoppable now. Terrible defending, but is he onside? Doesn't matter now and it's game over.
Lukaku had 6 shots on target tonight. That's one less than Stoke have in this season and he scored one more goal than they have.
Everton up to 3rd place. Just goes to show what you can achieve with a manger who is always clean shaven and always wears a suit on match days.
