The year I started going to Roker park on a regular basis.I think we made a poor start that year If my memory serves me well.
Lost the first two. Lincoln and Fulham. Then beat Liverpool. Then lost again to Fulham. Twice in a week. Strange fixture list. http://www.thestatcat.co.uk/Season.aspx?SeasonID=80
Thanks mate, what a site that is, if I start I will be on it all day but I must be off or nothing will get done, I will tag it somehow, anyway it corrected my memory and it was my second season as the first one i started going to regularly was the previous one when we were relegated for the very first time in our history, the two games a week were de rigueur, pardon my French, in those days, and I had the pleasure of being present at the Fulham game, on the wednesday night, in which a dear friend of ours, Gentleman Jimmy Hill played some part, unfortunately I was totally distracted by a buxom young female who seemed to keep crushing herself against me, very strange indeed seeing the size of the crowd that night. Fond memories.
I'm still at work FFS!! Won;t get to the match till around 10 minutes before kick off unfortunately and it's my turn to drive. Normally I can have a few pints at the midweek ones cos I'm not gigging afterwards!
I chose the wrong word, substitute 'not winning' for 'losing' and we're all good. Some of us might be thinking something like, Rodwell can't possibly have single handedly cost us victory in those 29 matches, but to not have won all 29 of the matches which he has started, makes it very difficult to deny the statistical significance of that. So, what I'm saying here is, while Rodwell has been at Sunderland, SAFC has won (16/50) or 32% of it's matches when Rodwell has not started, and 0% of the matches he has started. Let's say the manager started someone other than Rodwell, then the probability of that team not winning those 29 matches is, the non winning percentage 68% raised to the 29th power, or 0.68^29, or about one chance in 72000. But, somehow, we have managed to achieve this highly improbable feat when Rodwell has, in fact, started. Just assigning a probability to Comm's stat.
Still coincidence though fella! As Bri said earlier - a lot of the games we failed to win were due to errors from a full back position not from a DM position. Kirchhoff will be there with him tonight though so we'll have a class central midfielder alongside him
Exactly. He needs to factor goals conceded though errors, lost duels leading to goals, dispossessions, positional errors, tracking back failures, then at the other end missed chances misplaced assist attempts and god knows how many others, not just of Rodwell but for every single player in the games in question. That 'equation' means nothing. Won't be remotely accurate. It would take a truly brilliant mind to do what he's trying to do but factor everything needed for an accurate result. Waste of time. Some clever cats round here but there isn't any Andray Kolmogorov's kicking about.
Wonder if it was Voodoo Witch doctor or a Romanian Gypsy that descended from the dark castle from the the nether reaches of fairy land to put this magic 'Rodwell Curse' on us Glad I'm not 12 or I'd be ****ting it. Gladly I'm an Adult so it makes me piss myself instead... With laughter at grown men talking about curses and jixes Ya silly sausages.
If you ever read Raven on the Wing...you would never doubt the power of an old gypsy curse. It is also true that some people are jinxed. Mind a win tonight.....
