I liked Bruce, but I don't understand why it has to be such an extreme either or. He was good for us overall. Everyone but Patty will acknowledge that. He was also very frustrating at times. Some will agree with that, some won't, but our performances under Phelan do tend to support the claim. Why this offends people so much, I don't think I'll ever quite understand.
That's really encouraging, especially away from home. Obviously passing and possession aren't everything, but it's a bloody good starting point.
What's that - a the slight whiff of a changing of tune in the offing? And all that mocking I got all summer when saying you'd 100% finish bottom half this season...
Everyone must agree that SB is the reason we have most of the players we have today! But what I can't understand is why didn't MP push his views more in the team set up? Was he a yes man? Same players but a totally different team!
It has puzzled me, as there is no doubt we are playing a better brand of football under MP. I can only assume SB had his way, and that is how it was done, but now MP has the tiller, he is steering the ship on a different course.
I guess some of us have had bosses that did things is a certain way, but given our chance, we would do them differently.
I just found it highly interesting how mocked I was by him when he's now (seemingly) having doubts himself.
We played bad against Liverpool. I don't somehow think we're instantly **** because of one **** game. We've played well in 3 of our first 5 games. If our strikers taken their chances against you then we'd have played well in four of our first 5. Also worth noting that based on points taken against the same sides last season (assuming that you take the place of Villa as you were the lowest ranked last season) we're dead level. 2015/16 Villa A - Draw Arsenal H - Loss Swansea H - Win Liverpool A - Loss 2016/17 Hull A - Loss (-1) Arsenal H - Draw (+-0) Swansea H - Win (+-0) Liverpool A - Loss (+-0)
I don't get why people rubbish our ex manager. I don't get why they go overboard about our temporary one after only 4 games. I hope every manager is better than the previous one but to rubbish the previous one is pathetic.
I don't get why people think that saying the football has improved under Phelan is rubbishing our ex-manager.

That's what I guess progress is, just because the new guy is doing a better job than his predecessor, doesn't say he did a bad job, SB obviously did, but Phelan has been an unknown quantity, but hopefully he can take us to the next level, and IMO so far he is playing a better style of football, so hopefully he can.
