Nah. Cant understand it kempes we get the big hold up player we've lacked and this board has cried out for, for god knows how long and no one wants to play him. Cos they dont want to upset the current players. The ball kept coming back on Saturday cos abel cant do it, its not his game. If we dont play our best players as soon as possible we will be relegated. FACTAMUNDO
Have to disagree Chazz. The only way we'll stay up this season is with team spirit and putting 10% more effort in than our opponents. The new larkers will come in naturally, because of injury or poor performances/fatigue and they'll play their part. The daftest suggestion I've heard so far is to drop Jak for Marshall. How can you drop a player in such good form? The only thing I'd change for Arsenal is Dio. He made too many poor passes. We'll see the new boys in good time.
It is. I can understand it. We want to see what our new signings have, but their time will obviously come. Patience people...
I'm rather hoping Henriksen can play wide because that's where we lack options. Diomande is obviously the weakest link in the current 11 but who replaces him? All those new signings but none of them seem to be able to play out wide. Mason will presumably replace Meyler at some point but the only one that most of us seem to want dropping is Dio yet there's no obvious replacement. I know Chazz wants Abel out wide but I'm not a big fan of that. I agree holding it up isn't his game but we don't seem to be needing that right now. I'd leave Mbokani until we actually have a problem up front for him to be the solution to. Until then he can bide his time as a sub.
I've not seen Diomande play "out wide" at all this season. Our front formation is much more flexible than that, and Dio's role is as defensive (where he performs well) as it is attacking. I don't see a particular need to drop him.
There's prob only one player i'd class as being at risk of his place at the moment and that's Dio, other than that we've put in 4 pretty good performances, 3 good results and have more points than most envisaged at this point. The team and players are playing well, no need to make sweeping changes. Make the new guys earn their places.
We were drawing, at home, against ManU and lost it in Fergie time - no room for comfort. We were losing, away, against Burnley and saved a point in Fergie time - no room for comfort. We need goals, as well as heroics; to get them we ned to change something and a proper hold-up attacker sems like a good place to start. Perhaps the players might agree with change, as i recall it was them who were asking for new players to freshen it up. Some proper codswallop on here.
I've never said i want Abel out wide. I said if you want Mbok in and Phelan intends keeping the same formation the Abel would have to move. ITs not like he would be stuck on the wing, same as Dio isnt. But its his job to tie down their RB. Dio comes inside, look where he was when he missed that sitter...
isnt that the mistake the England manager normally makes? picking player on reputation rather than form? and yet thats exactly what you want MP to do? personally I wouldnt play Meyler.... for the amount of good work he does, kinda doesnt make up for the mistakes he makes. he is like the Matty Fryup of 2016/17 season.
MP must pick players he thinks can win us a game! Not wait until someone makes a mistake then replace him! That sends the wrong signals to players " make a mistake & you're dropped " it's all good & well saying these lads deserve to keep their places! But if we've improved our squad in the transfer window? then play a newbie! The Arse will be moving the ball about at pace so pick pace to counter it!
Arsenal are surely going to try to pass through us again (do they have wingers)...Mason & Henriksen in for Dio & Meyler.
Meyler is the player with form, he has shown it on the pitch in the last 4 premier league games and a full pre season with us. Reputation suggests Mason could and should be better. Seeing him on the training pitch is one thing, I am saying he needs to come on in a real game as a sub to show what he can do for us, not get picked because he played for Spurs and cost a lot of money, that sounds familiar.
