Sounds like what I had on my ankle recently. Don't scratch or squeeze the bite, or you'll be on antibiotics to shift it.
Mine was a horse fly according to the doctor. It was horrible, I couldn't help but scratch the **** out of it every 5 minutes. Obviously making it 10x worse.
I have never had anything like this..No pain when it happened at all, but the itching, redness and swelling had me worried for a while..It is still itchy and feels hot to the touch, but the swelling has gone down and nowhere near as red.
When something bites you, it flies away, for about 3ft, then falls over into a ditch, pisses itself and lays there until the next day, waking up with the mother of all hangovers. "Hiya Buzz, where you been?". "Don't ask". "You bit Comm again didn't you?". "Might have, do us a mixed grill will ya darling".
They say rashes/swelling from bites are completely normal unless they travel up your body, if they start to move up your arm, in the direction of your core/head, then see the doctor rapid.
Yes.. That was my train of thought..If I saw the redness move up my arm I was going to head down to casualty..
Have you got any antihistamines, like Loratadine, Whitey ? They have a calming effect for things like this
there's a certain kind of bug that does this to me, comes out in August/September time and the first bite I had was in the late 80s while fishing at Finchale Abbey. Bit on the hand and swelled up, took a couple of days to go down, as you say red, hot and mad itchy. I've been bitten several times a year since, till I stopped fishing in the 90s but still get bit occasionaly. The reaction gets worse every time I get bitten so now my hand doubles in size and the swelling goes up to the elbow. Someone told me it wass a histamine reation so I take Citrazine if It happens which seems to stop the swelling. Wasp stings have the same effect on me now, get stung most years so same medication for them. I think the crit is some type of Gnat or Mosquito but I've never caught one to be sure - I never feel the bite. They hide during the day in dark places so unused buildings would be ideal for the little bastards
RAW If you have stuck your arm in a dark place, it might have brushed a web and this is the likely attacker, like what happened to this lass, your arms must have looked like a big hairy fanny so it was giving you a hickey.. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/super-sized-sex-crazed-spider-8791535 Judging though that you had a fever after it, the chances are it was a False Widow so you should get it checked out..
Well that was a stroke of luck, the spiders over in NE carry all kinds of diseases, picked up from the locals.
Nee bother . . . . if I see any medics around the area where you sit tonight, I'll fear the worst, whilst assuming that it's your own fault for not taking any notice of Dr. Armstrong
