If we turn this round. We'd be laughing our cocks off if 2 of Boro's 5 signings were Weir and Keane wouldnt we? Yes we ****ing would.

It's not missing the point. We have Hernandez and Mbokani who look capable of doing the business. Dio to be fair has also done ok. So for a 4th choice I'd have given him a go. His record at a similar level to the clubs Will Keane has been to on loan is ****ing miles better.

Just got back from the game, deserved the late equaliser, we were certainly the better team, and created the better chances. 2 pieces of quality decided the result. How Dio missed his chance in the 2nd half God only knows.

Because Ehaw refused to sign any of the list of targets given to him by Bruce.

These then got signed up elsewhere.
The list of players we then signed were basically a list mark 2, drawn up late in the transfer window.

Probably true. Mason was always linked from day one, so it's probably a bit of both.

Even if you reject the bigger success/club reason, there's justification in that Hull & ER are far bigger in terms of population/client base for RH. In sport, even our two RL clubs are bigger than both Scunny and GTFC.

On a broader scope, I think association with the south bank brings us down. Generally speaking, they hate us but tellingly, the 'elite' of that side of the river know that any sort of future for them is with us, latching on to our coat tails.

I don't even see them as being northern. Hull is reawakening. Let's ditch 'em.

Team spirit surely. Although, I now think that result gives him a reason to make changes. Had it of been Mason playing instead of Meyler, would that ball have hit the post? It would've been a vital extra 2 points. Jaks kicking was pretty awful too today. He's done nothing wrong but Marshall is our no 1

Was it 76 or 77 last time it was sunny at Burnley (strap line: 'Our town, Our Turf' displayed prominently in town)?
Felt like a win today, some Burnley **** was saying not unreasonably that last season when they had that long unbeaten run, they were sometimes not the better team, but they had more will power than most.
They proved that v LFC last week, and they almost did today when the usual goal out of **** all from them on 73 mins against the run of play, looked like the usual day jar view.
But we did what the good teams do - we stick at it and get some reward, and exasperate the home team with a late goal. Like last week.
How priceless might that equaliser be in May? Two points snatched off them when their simpleton fans were already trumpeting a win to the Tom Hark music like the clog wearing buffoons we know them to be.

    Bravo Hull.

They may turn out to be duff signings in hindsight, but there's no point in speculating now. I said the same of Drinkwater and James when they signed for Leicester and although the latter faded away, I had the grin wiped off my face when Drinkwater turned out to be a bit good.

    Shut the forum down.

They probably were at first. Which is glps whole point. We needed players now not ones for a few years time who need games. Not learning their trade in the PL.

We have players now, though. We said the exact same with Chester (who had only ever played at Carlisle) and that turned out fine, he adjusted to the PL just fine. Clucas had only ever played lower league football, but that's paying off. Weir was captaining one of the best U21's sides in the country and he'd featured on the bench a number of times for United, so their coaches obviously thought he was nearly ready. Every player has to start somewhere, Keane has just been brought in because he's cheap and has a good reputation from Joyce, Phelan et al. They wouldn't have bothered if he was ****e, for the same money we could've got a League 1 striker liek Bradshaw or Winnall, but what would the difference have been? We'd still have got an unproven PL striker, but at least we've got one that has talent.

FFS Chester had two full seasons in the championship before he played PL. These two have **** all. Cant you grasp that.

Is the Championship the same as the Premier League, though? No, it's not, but it's still stepping up a level. Chester before signing for us had played 3 Championship games for Plymouth, some games for a promotion chasing League 1 Peterborough side and had spent half a season at Carlisle. It was a massive gamble to sign him, even for £300,000. But it paid off and as a bonus, he turned out to be a top player in the Premier League too.

Will Keane has only played in the Premier League and the Championship. He's had injury problems and he was recalled from his last loan to cover at Man U. He's obviously highly rated, his career just stalled because of injury. He only cost £1m, it's hardly broken the bank and if he grabs a few goals, then great. If he's ****, who cares? He's 4th choice and we can get rid at little cost.

I assume what you were hoping for was a Premier League ready striker. Of which we have two, in Abel and Mbokani. We have Dio who has now scored in the Premier League as back up and Keane as an option as 4th choice.

Weir is a bit different, but he was the next one to break through into the first team at Man U. We don't know if he's good enough to play in the Premier League, but until he does, why moan and whinge about it? Neither one has been brought in as first choice, they've been brought in as cover, which is the best thing for youngsters.
