"The presence of a director of football acts as an intermediary between the manager and the board and may relieve pressure on a manager by handling aspects away from day-to-day coaching, allowing a manager to focus on on-pitch performance. The director may also help to stabilise the club – many examples exist of director stepping in as a caretaker manager on the departure of the manager. The director – often an experienced football figure – may also positively advise a less experienced manager or the board of a less well developed club." Generally though it is often perceived both within and outside the football club as an alternative form of the dreaded vote of confidence for an under-performing or inexperienced manager. At other times, this appointment is viewed as a direct threat to the manager's autonomy and authority and often marks the literal 'beginning of the end' for the manager in question at a specific club. Now, I know I said I thought Monk's time was nearing the end but... I would prefer a new coach entirely OR Monk given more time than this appointment... Look at the last one we had, blamed for sacking Thompson (he said knew nothing about it), players running to him instead of the coach, all going to get messy?
And the Bates's ugly **** love child also in the photo is the ex-furniture salesman who's name escapes me. Can we finally put to bed that all the signings have been Monks. I see a battle brewing that Monk / Clotet can't win unless TOMA is true.
Another of his men from Cagliari and echoes of the Salerno scattergun policy to recruitment this summer (possibly)
Certainly looked like Monk didn't want to be there, also looked like he wasn't really interested. If you could read Eddies mind at end of interview, it looks like he was thinking "what a load of codswallop Gary".
Rabbit in headlights springs to mind... How many times did he say "cancelled each other out" like Eddy said, we were the home team, down to us to up the pace and we never. He kept banging on that it should have been 0-0 so he would have been pleased with that!!
Udders are flying. We are still bedding in players and systems. In Clotet we have an experienced assistant, 4 or 5 more games needed and perhaps till Christmas. But as mentioned on here, there ain't too many candidates who would want the job now.
Bad,very bad, blames udders for setting up the way they did,up to them methinks. Fans didnt get into it,not fooking surprising, but blame the fans?!!!! Had a pop at the interviewer(popey?) Bloke seems clueless
