But you get more than a few seconds to make decisions. Unless you have to make snap decisions on the spot, you cannot compare your job to a referee's.

**** me Tom, you have to be the most hypocritical of all posters.

Clasie clips a player at Old Trafford - you call him moronic

Puel is appointed and within days you are calling for his sacking

Manager changes striker after us not scoring many and plays striker who scored. You call it ridiculous.....

Let's be honest I could go on all night. You behave like you suffer from Internet torretts unless you're fawning over a referee.

Don't dish it out if you can't take it about your pet subject.

Tom, I might be a bit odd here because in some ways I admire your defence of your profession. It's a good trait (if a little too stubbornly applied sometimes).

Today though was simple, simple, simple. And he cocked it up completely.

Bit melodramatic don't you think? We were extremely unlucky not to get a point, away to Arsenal.

Thing is, as I said on the PL thread, I thought Clattenburg refereed the Manc derby very well today. Yes, he made one or two mistakes, but they were mistakes that you could see how they might have come about. That's absolutely fine. Today was inexcusable.

It's not his profession, it's his hobby. Football is my hobby. He is hypocritical when he moans about people complaining about referees when he complains about players and mangers.

I agree he made a really bad cock up today. But I have seen plenty of games where he has shown he is a good referee. It's just some fans seem to get it into their heads that referees have it in for us before a ball is kicked.

Lets hope they do threaten to strike. They are not doing their job properly and should be called in and threatened with sacking if they cannot apply simple rules that do not require any thinking. Head injury - no thinking to do, no discretion. stop the game.

Honestly I don't pay too much attention to who the referee is so I don't tend to have any preconception, other than Mason who I think is just utterly ****e, regardless of team.

I disagree. I would word it that when a controversial decision happens against us playing a big club, that some fans think the referees react under that pressure in favour of the big club. Like today.

That is not the same as thinking they have it in for us before a ball is kicked.

You on the other hand seem intent on not accepting that such a thing could happen, which frankly is ridiculous because they get put under massive pressure when refereeing big clubs.

Not really, Puel needs a win and soonish. We might have been unlucky but we still lost. Football is a game about winning, Swansea will be a big game for us.

Puel for me needs to be man enough to be ready to drop the diamond. He also has to admit Redmond isn't a striker.

People need to remember the Prem league is cut throat as hell with managers. We will give him time, but not that much time.

Stopping the game is not a decision to be made. It is mandatory. There is no defence of Bobby Madley for that. He knows that it is mandatory. He should be sacked because he is one of the worst for deciding himself which rules he will apply and which ones not.

I feel more positive about the team after that. I think we saw a more defensive version of the diamond and so it is flexible. Disappointed in the ref, amd still, concerned we can't play for the whole of a half, but not bad. Some of the players look very frustrated but all winners would.

    - Tadic on the left
    - Two commanding holding midfielders
    - Redmond is not a striker
    - Long is not a Left winger
    - bring back the high press
    - Davis is being wasted
    - Up the tempo

We have the players, he's just using them wrong

<yikes> seems a bit soon to be talking about that for me.

Though we fail to beat either Sparta or Swansea then pressure will be mounting.

Pellegrini is still kicking about (though I'm not as keen as many were previously).
