Welter to Middle is a huge jump, and when Golovkin's record is factored it, it does look like Brook has a serious row to hoe. Good luck to him though, at least he has the balls to take up the challenge, plenty of others have run for the hills.

Just to add to my last post I've had a silly £5 double on Brook and Liam Smith to both win their fights, Liam takes on Canelo in Dallas next week, it returns £180!

Being totally honest this Brook v GGG fight is a total mismatch and I think most people can see that. Look at the facts. It's without question GGG is the best middleweight on the planet. Some would make the argument Kell Brook is the best welterweight around but that's up for debate and even Brook fanboys would have to concede that but for the sake of argument let's say he is. So you've the best middleweight v the best welterweight....mmmm. Brooks a very good fighter but he's up against an animal here. GGG is one of the only boxers on the planet I've seen whose happy to take a shot or two just to land one big shot back. He doesn't flinch, he doesnt take a step back. Getting hit by Brooks shots wouldn't hurt him at all. GGG is a 1/5 shot and I think that's generous as he's simply too big and powerful for Brook. There's weight classes for a reason.

Brooks getting the payday of his life here so I'm sure he's not bothered whether he gets battered for 2 rounds or 10 but he surely knows deep down he's no chance tonight. This fight is a mismatch, it's simply a business transaction. Brooks getting paid a ****load of dosh to get beat up and GGG gets to rise his stock/publicity in the UK. Everyone gets something out of it.

The manner in which Canelo and De La Hoya dealt with the GGG affair has pissed off a lot of people. They've talked the talk but the only walking they did, was away from the clash. For all of that though, I think Canelo is a monster. He's 8s on.

GGG v A prime Hagler? Devastating power and ringcraft against unparelled fitness, pressure and a chin of kryptonite.

That'd be something to see DB. About the same height, but Hagler has a 5 in reach advantage.

Hagler all day long for me. The constant pressure would break GGG's heart and will power.

For all Golovkins knock outs he's fought absolutely no one! David Lemieux probably the best he's fought but he was so scared of getting hit he ran for the entire fight until he was stopped. It is a mismatch on paper but that's what makes it interesting. It might not go a round but it might just be a decent scrap. No one at the time gave Leonard a chance against Hagler (and yes beefy before you interject I'm well aware Kell brook is no sugar ray Leonard) so upsets can happen. Whether it's for a pay day or not you've got to give Brook credit for taking tha fight, no one else has been willing to step up.

He's got nothing to lose though has he? No one expects him to win anyway so when he gets beat it's no big deal he simply drops back down to welterweight. His reputation shouldn't be affected and he's made by far the best pay deal of his life to boot and seen as brave for taking it! Win win situation for him really.

Different story for other middleweights rejecting the fight who don't have that safety net.

Only way he comes out worse off is if he gets absolutely mullered early on. As excited as I am to see Brook take this fight id have loved to see him stay at Welterweight and take on Garcia, Thurman or Spence Jnr over in the States

In all fairness, if we have a look at those Hagler defended his title against, most were pretty easy targets. Mugabi, Hamsho, Roldan, Scypion, Sibson, Obelmejias (twice), Lee, Antuofermo and Minter were hardly above the likes of Golovkin. Of course GGG hasn't had to tangle with the likes of Duran, Hearns and Leonard. It has to be remembered that the legend Roberto Duran was a built up lightweight, and Hearns and Leonard Welterweights. The one thing Hagler has on his side though, is the thought of what Hearns and Leonard to do the current Welterweights, and imagine the mess Duran would make of the Lightweights. These three are all time greats.

Not sure Mugabi could be considered an easy target. Was a destructive force who up until hagler won every fight by knockout. And arguably gave Marvellous the toughest fight of his career.

Watched a Brook fight the other night. From what I saw he hasn't a hope in hell against Golovkin. He will get knocked out.

Decent flashes from Brook but he never really hurt GGG, frustrated him but never had him in any danger. Transaction completed.

Chinks in the GGG armour perhaps? Always felt Canelo would give him a fight and after tonight I'd be even more confident. Over to Liam Smith next week to try and slay a Goliath!

Seems like Brooks put up a good fight for a while. Inevitable ending though

Kell did ok. But anyone who has ever watched a GGG fight will know that he does take shots. Tonight was nothing new. Kell did as well as could be expected,he is a very good boxer in his sphere, but hes nothing more than that.
