It always amuses me when you end up defending a referee in more and more stretched ways after pretty much every game where a referee makes an absolute howler. That's not a figure of speech, I genuinely laugh as you become more and more desperate to defend the Referee's Masonic League. Vin
Vin Tom only defends referees because he is one and wants a career as one. He even admitted the other week that he's seen/heard stuff about referees but wouldn't post about it because he wants to carry on refereeing.
Could be worse, we could've been dicked 4-0 at home by the Spuds....Hughes to be the first manager sacked this season?...
Players making mistakes or doing well is supposed to be part of the game. Rules being applied improperly is NOT supposed to be part of the game. Pretty simple, really.
So why the **** aren't you as forgiving of our players, manager and club as you are referees. Pot. Kettle. Black.
Yeah, how it works Tom, is like this; we're all pissed off and angry because we were robbed of a point we feel we deserved. The officials made a string of atrocious decisions in the last few minutes that resulted in a thoroughly undeserved penalty given against us. In those circumstances anyone standing up for the referee has to be a bit nuts, frankly.
It's indefensible: 1) long is CLEARLY fouled 2) head injury - play should be stopped 3) due to HEAD INJURY, Koscielny is offside and affecting play 4) Fonte gets the ball What part of that can you defend? It's ****ing nonsense. Your posts are full of ****. Sometimes referees do have difficult decisions to make. None of those four were remotely difficult.
I'm not defending the decisions made you dolt, just the fact that referees are treated like **** all of the time. If it carries on, I hope referee's strike or threaten a strike. If there was no football for a few weeks it might make managers, players and fans think twice before hurling abuse at the referees every 5 minutes.
That's the frustrating part - this wasn't a tricky one at all. In fairness to the massive berk, the Long foul was bad officiating by the linesman more than the ref.
You are the biggest moaner about players, tactics, performances, manager on here yet you complain when referees are criticised. Referees have a rule book to follow. YEs there is discretion BUT there are some rules that are fixed. Misses the foul on Shane Long? Fair enough. Linesman misses it too? Happens. Arsenal playing holding head in the box? Is supposed to be no discretion, stop the game for a head injury. There is no get it right or wrong there. It is not something the ref cannot decide on. This happens week in and week out with referees in the Prem yet when we complain about referees in Lincoln games we are told "What do you expect at this level." As it is it seems we are getting as good as the Prem ones because these guys make the same mistakes, just without the FIFA badge. I can accept a dodgy penalty decision and missing a foul but how does Bobby Madley explain not stopping the game for a head injury? It is absolute BS. They pick and choose when and where they want to enforce these rules with some refs giving warnings about gobbing off, and others just yellowing, some not doing anything. Some shirt pulls are given, others aren't. They MUST start to go in dressing rooms before games and say "there will be no warnings and EVERY incidence of these offences will be punished but they don't. It is pot luck and that just is not good enough when they are professional referees.
They're treated like **** when they deserve it. At around the 80 minute mark, I commented to some mates that the ref has had a good game. Then that **** show unfolds and costs us a point.
Tom, you're pretty close to being more annoying than today's ref. As I suggested before, you really do need to back off & let go sometimes i.e. today.
I feel optimistic, but if we don't start winning soon I will start to worry. I don't want it to get to the point where we are drawing but draws aren't enough. I do wonder why, but we haven't looked like winning in any game so far, including Espanyol and Bilbao. Onwards and upwards for the Europy Cup! Maybe Puel wants to play Hojbjerg from the start vs Prague.
I'd be in for a lot of trouble if I made as many glaring mistakes in my job as Madley did in his today.
