Can't see how any Saints fan can be unhappy with the performance today, we were always in the game and Shane should really have scored at least twice. We had good possession today and played some pretty football at times and of course we were robbed by the "homer" officials at the end.
I'm so bloody disappointed! Feel cheated! Would of done the confidence the world of good. At least there are some positives It is what it is. No point looking back now.
Not just the noise either. What makes the bigger story and draws more bad attention to the referee: Arsenal win late with dubious penalty against smaller side? Or Arsenal not given late penalty that deny them certain victory. People expect the bigger teams to win so refs side with them to avoid getting lots of negative attention if they deny a top team the right decision.
I'm actually much more optimistic about our season after that. We created chances that Shane would normally have slotted away (he looks to be lacking confidence), we defended decently and we've a pair of rocks in Hojbjerg and Romeu. Bad refereeing decisions will come and go, though I must say that Karma's having a right old go at José for all the penalties that should have been given against him over the past couple of seasons. We'll be just dandy. Vin
Romeu was class. Højbjerg made a real difference. And I do think we played well, but If we see this formation; Romeu-Højbjerg Redmond Davis Tadic Austin/Long At any point, to give us that threat on the wings, we may have some joy. Although we played well, I feel like that was despite the formation, rather than because of it. We need width, Redmond and Tadic taking people on. Redmond doesn't have a clue how to be a striker IMO.
Tom, yes, you were perfectly correct, the line up was pathetic which is why at 93 minutes we were drawing 1-1. Vin
Yeah huge positive that Romeu looked infinitely sharper than the first few games, imposing with and without the ball. Shame that Long continues to be one of football's great conundrums. We've got three strikers in our squad and our first choice striker seems to be, by a distance, not one of those three strikers. Not ideal for a two-up-top formation.
It's only a game and nothing to lose any sleep over.....some you win and some you dont it's not life or death its a game and it is a bit sad to see fans think it's any more than that.....
It always amuses me when referees make mistakes they are crucified for weeks, even months but when a Saints player makes an equally big error of judgement everyone says oh well let's move on. Refereeing mistakes are as much a part of the game as footballer mistakes. It's called "human error". **** happens. Long missed a load of chances. The referee made a mistake. So really, Long made more mistakes than the referee.
Literally, that is the biggest load of **** ever. A referees job is so simple. Three **** ups in two minutes is inexcusable.
