But many DID believe it mate.

Politicians being able to spout off any old ****e in order to obtain a vote and then walk away from the promises made without a second though, is totally wrong.

Again, this ultimately comes back to Cameron, who allowed his own party to lead the out campaign and the fact that Johnson et al were part of the Govt of the day, probably lead many to believe that they were in a position to act on those promises.

Exactly, this wasn't a GE. Neither should have been making campaign promises they couldn't keep. Its not like whoever won the referendum would have been given total control over the government.

I agree. How ridiculous are those that keep trotting out the mantra. Funny thing is, they do it to try to imply some superior intellect over others.

    Stupidity in deed. <ok>

He was running for the PM's position and was one of the favourites before Gove stitched him up.
It was clearly a bullshit claim that nobody in the Leave campaign had any intention of fulfilling.
That doesn't mean that none of them were going to be in a position to do it, though.
Boris thought that he was going to be.

He's already been sacked from the cabinet once for very improper conduct.

Indeed which is why he shouldn't have been allowed to put it on the side of his bus. It was an outright lie which a lot of people believed, Kustard being one of them.

No one really believed it and I have to agree with Hull that it has become more a stick to beat the leave campaign than it was a factor in the actual election.

The better educated in our society voted overwhelmingly to Remain, it's a simple fact.

Meanwhile virtually all of the unemployed voted out.

    Go figure.
