I tried to keep the dozy fat **** chugging along, mate. But he finally caught me in a bit of a grumpy mood one morning, pushed it with his epic stupidity, so I let him have both barrels!.

    Now, I'm on ignore too!...<laugh>

I think the politicians think most of the electorate are thick, and i'm afraid i agree with them.
I think both sides aimed their campaigns at the "thick" vote.

Certainly aimed at those who only listen to soundbites and only read the headlines. It's the way of the world today that everyone has to sensationalise and catch the eye in a few short seconds.

I thought I was quite restrained, but it seems he shunted me into the outer darkness after I expressed concerns about his mental health.

But no one seems to get the glaring flaw in that process, in that things are more complicated and quite often the ramifications of a decision cannot be summed up in one sentence.

I thought you were very fair.
Only a complete mental case would try to take part in a discussion while at the same time deliberately stop themselves from seeing what's been said.

It's also amazing the lengths people will go to to defend a player that's played for their team too...

Eddie Murphy's greatest film work is the barber shop scenes in Coming to America. In case anyone doesn't realise, that is Murphy playing the role of the old, white man.

The original grammar school system as it was originally planned was never fully implemented. The concept had been that there would be three types of school Grammar, technical and secondary. Technical schools where meant to be a place for children to learn in a way that meant when they left school they were equipped for apprenticeships and performing skilled work in the labour market.
This is where a solely comprehensive school fails and you often hear employers complain that children leave school without the skills for the workplace.

I can only judge on experience. I have a friend who lives in Bucks which is an area that's retained grammar schools. He is from the same council estate working class background as I am and has never paid to tutor his kids. Two of his kids passed the 11+ and went to grammar school, one didn't. The two that did both went on to a top 10 UK university and achieved firsts that have given them top jobs that without a grammar school education they would've stood no chance against privately educated kids. The third went to a comprehensive school in neighbouring oxfordshire got good grades, went to an decent university and is unable to find permanent work.
My point is there is an element of the education system that is study for the sake of study and not prepare students for the next step. I have seen what happens at the new technical colleges, the school day is 8:15am to 5pm. The study time for English and Maths is doubled, a lot of the work is vocational and has business involvement. Subjects like Art, Drama, Dance and Music are dropped altogether and replaced with a single enrichment lesson where students decide which of those hobby subjects they'd like to do. It results in kids who go to this kind of school because they want to be there and employers get kids onto their apprentice programs that have far more practical skills than those who are from a comprehensive school.
I agree grammar school is currently to much the domain of the wealthy but I disagree that not building more is the way forward. Both grammar and technical colleges give kids a reason to go to school, it makes it their choice and therefore encourages them to do well. I'm not just saying this, I've seen it in my own son. Unfortunately there will be those who choose not to commit to the apprentice or academic route and the funding to help them step up to join a grammar or technical college at 14 or 16 should if anything be greater than given to the other forms of education.
