    True.

There were several reasons for voting leave. However, what's become abundantly clear, on this forum, and elsewhere, is that immigration was far and away the major reason cited.

Richard Pryor's dead and Eddie Murphy may as well be.

I said this at the time.
I was afraid Leave was going to lose because they kept making stupid, irrelevant promises that placated the thick brained, xeonphobe crowd and missed the point entirely. People kept saying "Oh they haven't made a Brexit plan!" but how could they? They were not the government, this wasn't a GE, it was a referendum, so even if Leave won, their power to do anything would be minimal unless they had the Prime Minister and the majority of the Tory government backing them, which they didn't.

I am a little ashamed at the UK's politicians for what happened in this referendum. It was chance to really educate the public on what the EU stood for, what the pro's and cons were of being in it, and how to take the next step in governing the country.
But no, both sides resorted to scaremongering and frankly, quite bullshit dirty tactics.

Remain would have had us believe that we would all be living in poverty, and that the apocalypse was coming if we didn't remain.
Leave would have had us believe that a bunch of marauding foreigners would come take our jobs, rape our women and blow us all up if we didn't leave.

    <laugh>
Talk about appealing to the lowest of society ffs <doh>

Pryor was one of the funniest stand-ups I've ever seen. Diabolical language, but if you don't mind that, hilarious.

I'd never heard of him until I went to live there and some friends took me to one of his shows. We were a distinct minority as white people and took quite a bit of flak from Pryor.

I know right, what in the hell happened to that guy?
In the 80's and 90's he was the man!
Beverley Hills Cop, Trading Places, Coming to America, Life (love that film), not to mention his stand ups.
All he has done since the turn of the century is making ****ty kids films, then knock up a Spice Girl.

    Jesus! Quite prolific then!
Least he has the money to pay for them I suppose.
Probably still makes a fortune just voicing that Donkey in Shrek.

Pryor died in 2005, you are thinking of Eddie Murphy.

Murphy copied virtually everything from Pryor. He always tried to deny it, but that's bollocks!

He's about to release a film called Mr Church which is being hailed as his finest performance. He's doing what many good comedy actors actually show themselves to be... which is good serious actors. Bill Murray and Robin Williams to name just two. I hope Mr Church is as good as its being touted to be. I still have a liking for the bloke bcos of his films in the 80s.

His best most recent film was Bowfinger imo.

Amazing how my posting the word honky has lead the discussion into an in depth analysis of the career of Eddie Murphy <laugh>

Ironically it was the film Harlem Nights (where he starred with Pryors) when it all went horribly wrong. And he never recovered after that. Go figure eh!
