I mean poorly supported in the context of the OP - ie whether you could sell out your stadium the second time you were in the CL! It's a fairly pointless measure but it wasn't me who invented it.

  2. I understand that in Thailand, the television broadcast introduces the match to the tune of "Do You Wanna Be In My Gang?"

I think Spurs did well not to end up in that Stadium, seemed very odd watching the Spammers play there. No atmosphere whatsoever and you need binoculars to watch the game.

    Indeed.

When I read the thread title I was expecting the OP to say "it wouldn't be big enough"

They've had lower than that in the Champions League.
    Didn't even break 25,000 in 2007 against Rosenborg: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/6996403.stm

Don't worry though, I'm sure that they'll get higher turnouts in Europe this season. Oh, wait...

To be fair that was after several seasons of seeing dross in the CL. I was trying to be fair by comparing their second outing with ours.

Basically, any Spurs fan in attendance on Wednesday will be part of a record-breaking event. We're on course to smash a record the best part of 80 years old. It's gonna be seismic! The rest of you can but dream of such a spectacle and we can't wait. While it's a WUM thread no doubt, the OP remains a chump of the highest order...

There were only a few thousand tickets at that price and the more expensive ones went first. I know Chelsea often have to resort to massive discounting to fill their stadium but we seem to have sold all the tickets at the original prices.

Thanks for the opportunity to compare a club with a proper fan base, with the glory-hunting plastics you have....

Yes - pretty staggering that you could have a team capable of getting that far and yet you still had a half-empty stadium in the first match!

We played 2 qualifying matches, 6 group games, 2 final 16 matches and 2 quarter final games in 2010/11 season.
    Last time I checked 2+6+2+2=12.
Therefore we have played 12 CL matches prior to this so this will be the 13th CL match spurs have played.
So that makes you over 50% out...so forgive me if I don't trust the figures of someone who can't count to 13 accurately <laugh>

Having your tickets for CL matches being advertised on Talksport and your home matches advertised in the Standard says otherwise :1980_boogie_down:

I just read the Spurs have the second worst record for filling their stadium in the Premier League, beaten only by Hull.
Spurs, on average, fill 86.8% of their seats for home games.
Hull on 82.4% are the only team with a worse percentage.

Chelsea fill 99.2% of their seats for home games.
Everton have the best ratio, filling, on average 99.8% of their stadium for each league game.

    http://www.soccerstats.com/attendance.asp?league=england

That 80% figure is for this season numbnuts...and the website has our average at just over 31000 and our capacity at over 36000 ... they are wrong cos we've demolished a corner of the ground losing 5000 seats making our capacity just over 31000.
1 out of 10 (it's out 10 cos I know you lot can't count higher <laugh>) for effort
