Morning all, quite a thick mist here this morning. It cannot be coming come up from the ground, so assume it must be some very low flying cloud. Back to the roller and paint this morning. Have to start on a ceiling, so had better go to the baker before I am splattered with white paint.
So a couple of days ago i dropped my phone. This is not unusual, i'm always dropping my phone, and lately i've been getting away with it but this time the screen cracked. Thing is, i'm so used to doing this and cracking my screen that i now have insurance from my network provider. Anyway, i rang them, and very efficiently they told me they would send me a new phone the next day. I thought this was a bit over the top, usually they just get me to send mine back, they fix the screen, do a factory reset and i get my phone back within the week. So i questioned it. No, they said, this is what they do now. They send a new phone (which looks like a refurb) and then you get everything off your old phone onto your new phone (refurb!) and then send them back the old phone, presumably so that can refurbish it and send it off to some other clumsy person who constantly drops their phone! So, yesterday my new (refurbed) phone arrived and i got it out the box, loaded the wifi code, did the update, and then took my old phone and peeled off the screen cover because it's reusable, to put it on my new phone. And it was then i discovered (as if i didn't already know) that i'm an idiot! The screen wasn't cracked at all. I'd bought a rather super duper screen cover that acts like glass, and it cracked when i dropped my phone. So now i have to call them with my tail between my legs and tell them to take back their lovely new refurbed phone, because my phone is perfectly fine and i just need a new screen protector. I'm an idiot! It's official! Morning all
An update! I explained everything and they said i still had to send back my old phone because i'd signed for the new one! I told them my old phone was in perfect condition and didn't want to send it back so thank you for the new phone but i don't want it, they were insistent that i had to send back the old one and keep the new one. I was told my old phone has to be back within 15 days but i could put in a complaint if i didn't want to send it back. However, the complaints process takes up to 8 weeks...what's the point in that when my old phone has to be back within 15 days! So, i was on the phone for a long time, spoke to the supervisor, put through a complaint which is completely futile and finally got a supervisor to agree that the system sucks and that i could keep my old phone and send back the new one. Phew!
Morning all, as I look out of the windows and doors here this morning, all open to collect as much of the cooler air as possible, I see that all of my neighbours are in full scale gardening action. One couple in their eighties always dress in his and hers matching white outfits. This seems on the face of it to be unwise as the clothes will show up all of the marks of the ground or plants that they have contact with. There is a perfectly good reason to dress in light colours though. You can easily see if you have picked up nasty insects such as tics.
I guess you are just taking a step into the unknown when trying to get sense out of mobile phone companies. I recently spent hours trying to get somewhere with my UK phone provider because they charged me for calls to them that they said were free. I finished up getting a score draw I think, with most of the costs returned. I also have a French mobile that I never have the slightest problem with. They stick to what they say they will do, and do it on time. Yet I read of people who have had long running sagas with the same company and have cancelled all dealings with them. As I say, it is a matter of luck.
Picked 4lbs of blackberries yesterday, so this afternoon have turned them all into spiced blackberry cordial (simmered with cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg, strained, sugar added and dissolved, brandy added). It's delicious stuff....equally good with soda water, sparkling wine or champagne. Will have to sample a little in the evening sunshine very shortly!
Good morning all from a breezy Jersey. Today, we have our annual air display to commemorate the Battle of Britain.
Morning all, grey and breezy here, and the cloud looks as if it could be holding some rain, but it is going over at such a pace I am not holding my breath that it will drop anything on us.
