Of course, QPR had a quality side in the mid 70s and were unfortunate not to win the League. Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea were poor at that time and QPR and West Ham had the best teams

I'll be there. I'm looking quite forward to going to some grounds I haven't been to this year. QPR is one of them, Eastlands another as well as Newcastle and Sunderland.

I doubt it will be anything like West Ham, QPR or even Arsenal these days but I'm sure the R's fans will be in full voice as per. Most home teams are usually quite up for it when Chelsea come to town anyway.

I look immensly forward to London aways anyway, West Ham may be down but QPR should be right up there with good away days out.

I'm sure Loftus Road will be buzzing just as much when Fulham, Spurs and Arsenal come to town as well. It marks an important period in QPR's history and as a fan of football it would be nice to see you guys get those owners out and someone that will invest in the club and give you some good times at W7, even if those Goons, as you call them are Chelsea fans they are bad for the game IMO <ok>

one fo the sad things is that our most hardcore/passionate fans, basically, the ones that sing the most are in the furthermost point away from the away fans so they often think we're quite quiet

I agree, The more hardcore fans tend to be sat behind the goals so depending on where they have their cameras and broadcasting set it can often be drowned out.

I'd like to get myself down to a QPR game next time they are on the cheap (maybe a cup game or something), been to Fulham a few times and it was good and I'm sure QPR will be the same

I like to think that the 'hardcore' fans are the ones that go to the away games as well as the home ones... I go to many away games and home games but definitely prefer the away ones.. A better atmosphere and more fun in general... Will you hope to go to any away games DL?

Agree totally. I was here before Roman and will be here soon after. Nothing will change. I had to overcome the brainwashing of my Arsenal family and then of course the gloryhunting United kids at School and Nursery etc. At the end of the day your club is your club, IMO you don't chose the club the club chooses you (unless you aren't a 1st or 2nd generation fan)

    http://www.footballfanscensus.com/issueresults/Club_Rivalries_Uncovered_Results.pdf

This might be worth a read for some of the QPR fans that claimed we are their biggest rivals etc. Before all the talk of plastic fans creeps into discussion that survey was taken in 2003, just before Roman's arrival and when we "lost our soul" as some would put it.

As I've said, I'm sorry to say it and sound harsh but QPR wouldn't prop up on the top 5 or maybe even top 10 rival teams as far as Chelsea are concerned. I think thats what Northolt was also trying to get across.

I used to go to a lot of home games but it is too expensive these days and I find myself enjoying away games twice as much.

I'll obviously be going to Villa and West Brom, and obviously Spurs and Arsenal, but others I will definitely be going to are:

    - Sunderland (definite, train tickets booked)
    - Manchester City
    - Newcastle
    - Fulham
    - Wolves
    - QPR
    - One of the Scouse clubs (probably Everton)

City, Wolves, Fulham and Newcastle in that order top the list of priorities though. Would like to do Fulham away as it is our local derby and City as the ground looks amazing.

Only home games I am totally committed to are Spurs, Fulham and Arsenal at the moment. Fulham only because it's a derby on Boxing Day and the matches between us are always good. Had to give up my ticket for that 2 seasons ago due to work so would like to go. Arsenal because it's Arsenal, same with Spurs.

    What about yourself mate? <ok>

I'm partly on your side but

    1. that was slightly after he took over <whistle>
    2. i think what they're trying to say is pre 1993 we were big rivals...

We could quite easily buy what you have but what's the point of going backward 60 years to experience playing on a ****hole ground in front of a very small partisan crowd week-in-week-out. We have become a little more sophisticated than a League Cup.

I wouldn't come to a cup game. We are not very good at them. have a guess at how many managers, including caretakers etc, we have had since we last won in the F.A.Cup ?

I think District has written about a 1000 lines on this topic. So much for not caring about the rivalry then! BTW great subtle put down earlier: somethimn like "I'm sure you have your local rivalries with Brentford...as we do with Liverpool". Nice one. Now toddle off and have a chat with your lifelong Chinese supporters as I'm sure they are much more interesting than us. :)

I feel the problem is a lot of these derbies are Sky created. For instance this whole Sky propaganda on the Manchester Derby being the biggest in the country is a load of rubbish. The Manchester Derby never has nor will it ever be one of the top rivalries, same could be said with Chelsea v Fulham as well.

Leeds have been hated since the 1970 Cup Final, Tottenham since the 1967 Cup Final, West Ham since the 70s Arsenal since forever, but more recently exacerbated in the 90s, with Liverpool being a newer rivalry we have developed during the Roman years. These are rivalries that are deeply rooted amongst Chelsea fans.

Every club has a rivalry that is personal to them. The newer Chelsea fans tend to say United are our biggest rivals but I disagree because success on the pitch aside there is nothing in it, heck we only have 2 chants about them. We've got a hatful for Leeds, West Ham and Spurs.

Down the years apart from the 6-0 in 86 and the 4-0 in 68 matches between us have always been close. As a derby game it is probably closer than any in London with Chelsea's 18 wins to QPR's 13. You won't find as many closer derby records than that. Chelsea and Fulham games are closer nowadays but we used to beat them as regular as clockwork and the head to heads are far outwieghed in our favour.

In our history we haven't played QPR often enough to develop a rivalry with them as such. We've played Tottenham 143 times, Arsenal 175 times and West Ham 95. Over the years these rivalries have developed into intense affairs where a lot rests on them, pride more than anything.

Today Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal are top four clubs and have been branded so by professionals with strategies I doubt you would understand. When this happens something gets lost ... if you don't think you have lost anything then good for you

I'm here to have debate and defend my club, are you not here to do the same?

I apologise if my original post came across as patronising but I don't know a lot about QPR's main rivals so I just took a guess.

I can't see what race or ethnicity has to do with it, as I've said a Chinese Chelsea fan is no less of a fan than an English one.

I don't buy into this idea that a top 4 club significantly changes teams. I think there is a big difference between a top 4 club and a big 4 club. The big 4 would nowadays be recognised as Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and United with the top 4 being whoever occupies those current positions.

Fans will always have memories of their clubs through the rough and smooth, nothing can take that away from you. Just my opinion I'm sure yours differs.

In marketing measurements I agree. Watch however how City will force their way but whatever methods available... They have kept in the headlines good or bad (there is no bad publicity when building). Watch how City try and use Man Utd as the evil giant ... The big four have all followed Man Utd's model as have the big clubs of europe. The big four is called the big four simply because of the champions league brand. QPR have never played in the Champions League maybe they never will as it would involve us having to follow the every model that City are doing. Ours clubs: Chelsea, Fulham, QPR sit in a small area in the biggest money city in the world. We have people looking at us to maybe make us that big and if it does something will die in us also.
