JPF, the answer here is that it's sadly nothing to do with you. The morale of the team, the behaviour of a colleague (not subordinate) - not your problem. Now, if his behaviour has a direct affect on your ability to do your job, THEN you have a complaint. That needs escalation. But if he's just a lazy fckwit, things will eventually catch p with him. My personal approach would be to gently encourage those who ARE being put upon to raise complaints instead. If their work is dragging because of him, they need to escalate the issue. Not you.

Relationships at work are important, but only selfishly - you don't need to go sacrificing yourself for "the good of the team", this isn't Saving Private Ryan it's Saving Your Own Ass To Earn As Much As You Can.

I voted Narp for the moment.

Tell him that he's a twat and that unless he starts pulling his weight you'll mention it to Ashley. If he continues Sissokoing, speak to MA

    Snitches get Stitches

Make a spectacle of him at work, proper show him up, mug him right off! Seriously, when you keep making comments in front of everyone about how little work they've completed in comparison to yourself and the rest of the team it will drag him down. Work later than he does and when he gets up to go, you question whether he's finished, or why he is going home when he has so much on. Also refuse to cover for him, dont do any of his work, try and add more to it where possible. ignore him, like pretend you didnt hear them. Do you have the facility to put headphones in? if so get them on and crank the volume right up! constant badgering, witty remarks, throw away comments, when he finds offence, laugh it off, banter, jokes. It's all good.

I know what some of what I said is contradictory, but the ignoring him part is more for when he is talking to/about you. The badgering/witty remarks need astute timing.

when he passes work on just leave it ,eventually the pile of work will be so high no one will see him, out of sight out of mind
put it this way if your son leaves his ****ty clothes on the bedroom floor and you put them in the dirty wash he will forever drop his clothes on the floor .If you just leave them and don't wash them the penny will drop and he will put them in the dirty wash,

If people above actually see you then the idea of the rest of the team agreeing between themselves to stay a bit later to get a project done is a clever idea. If Sissoko is a clock watcher and leaves on time then it will register with those above. At least if it's consistently done.

On the day that my boss was off following a car crash, Sissoko left work at 4pm. No joke!

Thinking about it... Thanks for the great advice guys, but so far Mr T's thinly concealed murder threat is probably the best <laugh>

Honestly, the best advice I can give you is to find a way to become self-employed. You will never look back.

What's wrong with leaving at 4? I work in the City and my company is spread over 4 floors, but anytime I get the opportunity I am out as early as possible, with everyone else working till 5:30-6:00. I left at 3:50 yesterday and probably just do a half day today, depends on how I feel at around 11.

I think its Virgin or someone like that who have unlimited holidays and very casual working hours. the only condition is the work is done. If you do everything you need to do, your done. it saves people sitting around doing nothing and it also means that staff wont cover eachother, I wouldnt be staying behind to do someone elses work, so everyone just works as hard as they can and goes home, i found a link copied below. I think this is a very forward thinking way to handle employees, but obviously some mugs will ruin it by taking the pi$$

My role involves responsibility from 9-5 though, it's not a case of "there's a set amount of work, do it". There's never ending work, and Sissoko spends a lot of their time on their mobile :headbang:

You have a number of choices in this, the one most will follow is to do nowt and hope for change, this is as ever unlikely to happen as gits like this are always cunning enough to cover themselves with their superiors, you can moan to your fellow workers but again nothing will come of it as most are frightened to either deal with the git or complain upwards about it, if you want to go it alone you need real evidence of the gits failings not just random moans. Going to the git directly rarely works as you don't have any authority that can effect them and you will be treated as the twat, if you want to have a go you need to document all aspects of their performance that is bad and causes other people issues, leaving work early etc over a period of weeks and raise a formal grievance as per company guidelines.
At the end of this you may still not win but from my perspective as someone who has managed teams I would like to know about someone who upsets the balance but in order for me to do something about the git I would need hard evidence to be able to act upon, I have done this and even followed through to sack some individuals when it is quite clear that they are not actually doing their job and causing problems for other team members.

Ah-ha! Busted! This is quite clearly the kind of tactic a sneaky, manipulative mafia player would use to get rid of both of you at once while appearing to be the helpful innocent himself.

So let's see. Grassing on a harmless message board is sacrilege. Bang out of order and open to ridicule. But grassing up a work colleague when you're supposed to be part of the team is just fine? Is this board for real? Moral codes are shot to bits over here. <doh><laugh>

Maybe your work colleagues won't grass because they don't want to let themselves down when in a bit of time, this person will be spotted and dealt with when the new manager comes. You have to wonder. If they're not grassing, what they're going to be saying about you if you grass?

If you want the managers job aply for it and then deal with the person. If you don't want the job then get on with your own. Don't be making yourself some kind of self appointed interim manager running to the bosses telling tales. Aply the self righteous, do not grass attitude you have on here to where you work. Because in the grand scheme, a messageboard is **** all, but a work place is a serious place to be doing **** like that.

Nah Grassing is the way forward, brown nosing too. the people who dont do this sh1t remain at the bottom, continually getting grassed on, I am thinking your probably one of them Bri, a scapegoat of sometype, probably think your unfairly victimised! If this Lazy little sh1t is as bad as your saying I would get him out. I've successfully made 3 or 4 people quit or get sacked at previous jobs, it gives you a nice warm feeling. But never anyone that doesnt deserve it. I then quit that job because I realised id have to get everyone to quit before i could be happy.

Why are all the people at the top little pussies (usually) because they like conversing/networking/grassing and being mates with people who I wouldnt be able to spend more than 30 seconds with without contemplating whether to break their nose.

Work is serious, money is serious, brown nose, grass, lie and scheme your way to the top, no one gets to the top through hard work, it's either luck or who your pals are. It does help if you have a face like mine that most people are generally attracted to.

Don't sweat it. I did read it. But saw it was tongue in cheek. You need to be more subtle. :)
