I'd take £20M today. Preferably a part-ex with Danny Welbeck. Martin Smith looked a world-beater for ages, but never quite cut it in the top flight, so you never know how players will develop. £20M is good money for the finished article, so for a young lad it would be very hard to turn down.

if henderson wants to go, then he should go - no sense in keeping a player who doesn't want to be here.

BUT if henderson doesn't want oot, why would we want to sell him?? the money would be nice but we don't desperately need it, much better to keep a twenty year old england international, local lad with bags of ability and a great attitude. quinn himself said part of the dream for him was seeing jordan lead us out un a european match.

also, there's owt in that article to back anything up - bruce himself has admitted that ferguson has taken an interest, but nothing more, and there's no quotes, literally nothing in that article. don't panic people!!

I'm not sire about this "wishful hoping" etc. I want Henderson at Sunderland. He's 20 (i think) and has liked very good other than a recent few games. If Carroll on half a season is worth 30m then how is Henderson only worth 20?

I personally think Henderson has struggled this season at times but early season and last season he looked excellent.

If Welbeck is part of the deal then that changes things as we'd get a young upcoming player in Exchange for a young upcoming player. Personally I'm singing "Hendo for Sunderland"

This is total bollocks, why would United want Henderson? Sorry but he isn't good enough.

Hendersons value will only go up. If the chance comes for a deal involving Wellbeck then we should look at it but for a straight cash sum, why not hold onto him for a couple more years.

    Carrick or Henderson?

If Henderson had two broken legs I would still prefer him to Carrick.

Not now, he isn't. But SAF is looking ahead a few years and the interest has been confirmed. This we know for sure.

One thing we know for sure is no player can ever be said to be ours- even when under contract. Equally this holds true of all other clubs (Ronaldo to Real). If a deal is right for Hendo or any player then take it. There are lots of terrific players around and if we can continue to build and grow then we should be able to attract them. In any event contracts never seem to be for more than 3 or 4 years so maybe someone like Hendo could return someday. Trust Bruce and Quinn, their track record in the market is excellent.
