Freefall may be exaggerated, but come on. You were ahead of us in the league table for a long time and let's be honest. Maybe before the season started you didn't expect it, but as the season came to a close, you know that you should have finished ahead of us. All you needed to do was get a point in your final game of the season against a relegated side (due to superior goal difference). You ended up getting battered 5-1 to a team that had 10 men on the field and had nothing to play for. If it was any other opposition, you may have a point. But after the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge, the only remaining consolation was your best chance in over 20 years to get one over us. When we jumped ahead of you in the league by game 38, I can clearly recall Spurs fans being infuriated - not just because of the appalling lack of professionalism from your players, but because you blew the rare opportunity to claim the bragging rights in north London. Perhaps it didn't bother you so much, but to a lot of other Spurs fans, it did irritate them.
Granted 2nd to 3rd isnt free fall but you were comfortably 2nd with 1st in clear sight, you then totally lost it and managed to get below an Arsenal side that was nowhere for a few months. You was lucky that it came at the end of the season and that the other three big teams were woeful all season. This season will be unforgiving and Spurs will feel it the most. They will rue the chance they had of winning the league as it won't come back in a hurry again, after the other three have significantly strengthened.
Bale is something else, I know it's Moldova, but the guy is such a force of nature when he is running with the ball, thank ****, he is no longer at Spurs.'
It was definitely irritating but there were mitigating factors. We played way above our potential for the middle 30 matches of the season. We only got 5 points out of the first four and the last four. Once we couldn't win the league I think we lost the Adrenalin that was keeping us going and playing without Dembele and Alli didn't help.
Switzerland playing Portugal tonight, interesting to see how Granit Xhaka does up against a strong Portugal midfield.
Granit Xhaka sent off for two stupid yellows, considering his team were two up, he has a pretty **** disciplinary record, and will cost us in a game or two this season, sadly. It's a major weakness in his game.
Rashford scored a excellent hatrick on his u21 debut. Does make we wonder what's going to happen at United. Martial isn't going to be happy with sitting around on the bench.
Martial wont be sat on the bench if he pulls his finger out and starts playing again. I do have some sympathy with him at the moment, he looks like he needs a few weeks off. He played all last season and had to carry us for most of it when he was used to a more sedate game in France and a winter break, then he went to the Euro's (didn't play much, about 20mins I think), had about 3 weeks off and was straight back into it. A few games from the bench may help him get his energy back.
I see that Bendtner has now joined Nottingham Forest. What a fall from grace. From being an important player in the Arsenal team, then moving to a good Wolfsburg side...to Nottingham Forest in the Championship. To be fair, talent wise, he is too good for that level. So if he performs well enough, he could end up ripping that division apart and getting Forest promoted. The issue is whether he will actually apply himself or not...
http://www.101greatgoals.com/news/d...tico-madrid-contract-expires-el-confidencial/ Diego Simone leaves June 2018....so is Wenger......
They've just signed the best striker in the world Seriously though, I agree with your point. If he applies himself he could be really effective in that team. Although he got a lot of stick at Arsenal and some of it rightly deserved, he actually scored some really important goals for us.
