I think that you miss out a vital part of the sentence where she says 'no condom, no sex

What sort of analogy is that? What would you know about a woman wanting to have sex with you? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Put it this way. Free trade is a bargaining chip with the ball in the EU's court. The UK has its own bargaining chip- free movement. Put these two together and everyone benefits (except scared pensioners). Avoid bargaining and the EU is marginally worse off and we are considerably so. It would be exceptionally weak of the EU just to cede ground. Not impossible but not likely.

These so called experts eh. If only they knew they were wasting their time being involved in the process and could learn so much more in a backwater thread on a football message board

I don't see what's wrong with a woman wanting the man to wear a condom. There's plenty of things that can be done with a condom and I don't think anybody would say that it's a problem.
Where I don't think the analogy you came up with stands up is that I don't think the EU are suggesting there is anything that would logically stand in the way of a no tariffs deal.

Why should the EU want free movement as part of a free trade deal? The EU tries to negotiate a lot of free trade deals and don't insist on freedom of movement to be part of the process.

They're trade deals, not free trade deals.

It's not trade barriers that are being negotiated as there currently are none. Free movement will have to be negotiated potentially by the EU (assuming the EU wants it). A realistic threat to the UK if it chooses to pander to scared pensioners and remove free movement is to impose barriers to trade.

It could indeed be something else. Perhaps we'll get free trade and the much desired "control of our borders" but the EU would have to be pretty ****ty negotiators to not get anything out of negotiations with a far smaller entity.

It's great. I get to take the piss out of him and plant bombs without him realising. Yesterday he was throwing windmills at people for suggesting he was fat as he said they had no idea what he looked like. Stealth wumming at its finest.

You don't see the EU's insistence on freedom of movement as a condition of freedom of trade as a problem then. I have some news for you.

    There isn't any.
You said: "It's not trade barriers that are being negotiated as there currently are none.". If you are seriously saying there's not going to be negotiations regarding trade barriers when we discuss our new relationship with the EU simply because there are no trade barriers now then obviously we can't have a logical discussion.
