http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crim...t-hyde-park-water-fight-for-fun-a3332041.html Outrageous case where a teenager was not charged with attempted murder after stabbing a disabled boy during a water fight for fun....he was allowed to get away with a lesser plea. He had stabbed someone else and also had drug convictions. The judge has asked for an explanation of why they didn't go ahead with attempted murder charge. I suspect they will say they had a better chance of conviction...I just hope it wasn't to save money. Stabbing someone is attempted murder every day of the week for me....the only excuse is self defence (not applicable in this case).
Just got BBC Radio 5 on the side, and am listening to a quite obviously seriously post-pub Meatloaf promoting yet another awful album. A piece of a track was played and if that is in any way representative of the rest of it then goodness knows how it got published. Is there nobody in that bloke's life who is brave enough to say, no don't.! Of course, people will buy it. The Emperor's New Clothes story lives and breathes.
The chief executive who resigned as the head of a troubled mental health trust had a new £240,000-a-year job created for her, the BBC has learned. Katrina Percy faced sustained calls to resign over Southern Health'sfailure to investigate hundreds of deaths. The BBC has now discovered her new job did not exist previously and she was the only candidate for it. Ms Percy faced months of criticism for the way her trust failed to investigate patient deaths. In June, the trust accepted responsibility for the death of 18-year-old Connor Sparrowhawk, who drowned in a bath at Slade House in Oxford. Ms Percy resigned last week but went straight into a new role at the trust on the same salary of £240,000 a year, including pension benefits. Trust Chairman Tim Smart, who has been in his post for four months, said it did not advertise the role but that the work the job entails - giving strategic advice to GPs - "needed to be done", describing Ms Percy as "uniquely qualified". Dr Maureen Rickman, whose sister died while in Southern Health's care, called the move "completely outrageous". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-37288843 Disgusting. Completely **** up and get new job with more money...
Mr WS who works in another part of the NHS is outraged by this as where he works a job has to be financially authorised and advertised (internally at least) or someone will get their arse kicked. Also the recruitment can't be finalised without these procedures so the job would never get signed off. How many nurses could we get for £240k I wonder? It sounds very dodgy. This sort of waste in the NHS is what needs sorting out.
I found the reason/excuse for the post and the candidate almost amusing. It was... Ms Percy is uniquely qualified for the job. Well of course she is if you're designed the special job requirements around her skill set. It does seems like an old pals act sort of appointment. I suspect Ms Percy has connections in high places. High enough to not give a ****.
He was a few years younger than my Dad, so they weren't friends in any way, shape or form. No beans to be spilled here, I'm afraid. The phrase "My Dad was at school with..." really does completely sum up the insignificant triviality of my connexion. I like to bring it up now and again though. Vin
Just been asked to resubscribe to SaintsPlayer, but I believe someone said on here that it was going to be free in future. Can anyone confirm that?
Sia is an odd character, but writes great songs...I quite like this track, and will forgive her most things just for her vocal with David Guetta in Titanium. Alive is a good track too, which I think she co-wrote with Adele. Talented lady but mad as a box of frogs.
I went to college with Yvette Cooper - not sure I should admit to that though. *her mum was a maths teacher and fit.
Ooof I could tell you stories about that young lady! I know her pretty well from a long while back. She was the first artist I ever tried to manage/help out...
I was asked to do that last season, which was odd because I had an annual direct-debit going. Peculiarly, I could watch all the matches and exclusive stuff on my phone, which was where I did the vast majority of the watching so I left it. I've since stopped the DD but can still see matches on the phone. I'm not complaining.
Speaking of Sia, this is probably my favourite performance of hers (in terms of after she started to get famous) -
