The lad needs wrapping up in cotton wool after every game and unwrapped for the next one.

England's my second team but they can whistle dixie out of their arse and wait for as long as it takes until we've got Mannone back.

Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford will not meet up with the England U21 squad this week.

Pickford sustained a slight thigh strain in the 1-1 draw at Southampton and will remain on Wearside as a precaution.

The club would like to thank the Football Association for their understanding.

I think Sunderland should tell England to f off after the complete balls up the FA made to sunland's start to the season with the SA thing. Just keep saying they are all injured.

Bad timing, think he would have been called up for the full England squad, might not have got game time (he didn't anyway) but the experience would have been good for him.

Im in the safc83 camp here, if you get a chance of an international call up, grab it with both hands, the player and the club, you never know when you might get another chance, especially as a goalkeeper, as highlander says, "There can be only one".

Nobody should ever be held back in their international career. Goalkeeper is the least likely position for somebody to get injured, as well.

Having players being exposed around the world at international level, is only going to increase their value, which should appeal to our club. Pickford could quite easily, ask to go and play elsewhere, so that he can have an international career, if this kept happening.
