http://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2016/august/kirchhoff-set-to-return? Will play in the check a trade trophy. Can;t wait to see this lad back and playing. One of the best footballers I've ever seen at the club!
Surprised he's playing. To us the game is almost a friendly, to Rochdale it certainly isnt. I just hope he doesnt get a knock from an enthusiastic opponent.
Think that's the sad stark reality of the tournament. Not sure I agree with the u21/u23 team playing against first team opponents in a tournament which previously only had 3rd and 4th tier clubs in. Especially as the rules state that we can play 5 first teamers if we want! (6 must be under 21 I believe) unless I've misread something Re Kirchhoff. If he gets a bruise from an opponent I don;t really mind. It's the injuries which just "happen" which are his problem not thne accidental ones
It's the risk the manager has to take to get him match fit. Better Rochdale than a PL team on his return to playing
I think I'd rather keep him for a prem match and give him sixty minutes in that, he only strolls around anyway. Depends on his injury, if it's completely healed then fine may as well give him game time but if there are any doubts whatsoever don't risk it.
He is heading into the last stages of his contract so we may as well start the **** or bust period now for both our sakes.
Jan will play. Maybe Denayer? Will Anchovy get a run out also? Anyone else? May as well use the game for fitness levels for some. Although i am against us being in the comp at all.
Sunderland AFC @SunderlandAFC Tune in to full match commentary of the @CheckatradeTrpy clash with @officiallydale tonight! http://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2016/september/audio-v-rochdale … Maybe about as good as you get.
I remember being soundly mocked on the train back from his debut for saying he was a class act. I'm an eternal optimist but I started to question my judgement so I always have a little smile when people say he's class. You'd think his example would make people hesitate before declaring players 'shyte' but it's already happened this season a few times.
I said after he got slated by Sky pundits and a few on here that he still looked a very capable player. Despite giving away a penalty and deflecting a goal (complete accident) he never once hid from the game and made some excellent tackles as well. I said almost the same as you smug about thinking he looked a very good player (as I look past the single mistake he made) and got laughed at. Amazing how a large number of fans remember only the bad things (see Jordan Pickford v Southampton!) and none of the good that a player does
How? I watched the game and, other than giving away the penalty, he did very little wrong - he was very unlucky with the goal (95 times out of 100 they fly miles wide or over the bar) and made some very good tackles and passes. Do you believe we should drop Pickford due to his mistake last week?
A few days ago I likened Pickford to Monty, does that answer your question, we may differ in our opinions on Hoffs debut, but I believe even Big Sam apologised for playing him so soon, maybe your view was superior to his, who knows.
International mate, played for Slovan Bratislava,Sunderland, West Brom and Celtic. Goal scoring center half now managing Tatran Presov in Slovakia. Bought by riedy for £800,000 had a dream debut but went downhill a bit from there, we even bought him back from Celtic after releasing him, only to do it again, we have a bit of history in such matters. Dont think Rashy will turn out the same tho. Sams first mistake not having him in the full squad imo.
