Exactly. So what's the point. We should have signed one. We didn't, no point picking at dodgy scraps now. It's too late. They had about 3 months +.

I wouldn't object to Chamakh too strongly, free agent and he's the "right type of striker", in that he is more about bringing midfielders into play and holding the ball up, than hanging around hoping to finish a chance off. His wages may be a little high for a third choice striker, but it's not the end of the world.

If WBA are interested though, I agree we've little chance of competing.

It is up to us what wages we are prepared to pay. If that doesn't suit he can say no and walk away. I agree with DH that he could be a useful option, but as a 3rd or 4th choice striker there is a limit on what we will be prepared to pay. As for the Physios' time, they are paid by the month, not per player treated. Whatever we end up paying, it won't be anything like we might have paid for McCormack who, so far, has scored one goal in six matches for Villa playing behind Gestede as a second striker. As a 3rd or 4th choice striker, his injury record would be less of a concern for the one year contract he's likely to be offered if it happens. Not a big one either way, IMO.

It's so strange seeing Norwich fans saying McCormack. "he's scored once so far, was a total waste!"

He has just moved there......maybe wait until he has found a house and settled his family.... then maybe rip into him. He has scored goals everywhere he's gone.

I'm sure McCormack will score more than Nelson. You get what you pay for.

That may well be true, FML, but I never said that he was a 'total waste' - just that there isn't much to show for the £12-14m so far. I wonder what our own fans would be saying if we had signed him and that was the outcome in the first six games. Dare I say it, Naismith has a better scoring record so far and Jerome has double the goals in 4 matches and they aren't winning any popularity contests! ;)

This was exactly my point the other day, why do "we" always have to have a player or players that we rip to bits. Ironically when said **** players leave they do better elsewhere so is it Norwich City screwing these players up, the fans what???

I just wish people would leave it out, how many of you have a bad day at work and someone sits there saying well that was rubbish, what on earth were you doing? That spreadsheet was a dogs dinner should've done it this way etc etc I bet a few days of personal criticism in the same way they pick on players would shut them up

I agree in terms of not jeering players during a game (or applauding when someone who has been average is substituted <grr>) but this is an internet chat forum and I don't suppose too many of them spend much time trawling through those?
    Two entirely different things, imo.

I think the only reason the English side hasn't won a few World and European cups lately is people saying mean things about them .
How would you like it if a professional footballer on £200k a week turned up to your place of work and told you that you were not being quite so productive as you might ?
I'm sure the results would be devastating I may even cry.

We paid £8.5m for a striker and got one goal. so, no, you do not neccessarily get what you pay for.

I just felt a chill as the ghost of RvW passed by! :emoticon-0105-wink:

This is a chat forum, Cromer, but if people are going to criticise a player they should provide evidence that the criticism is justified rather than just having an emotional rant. McCormack will score goals, FML - it's just whether he will score enough to justify his £12-14m price-tag. Time will tell, as it will for Oliveira who, at 27, should be coming into his prime. Let's hope so.

    EDIT: Snap GE!

We got great value from Jerome and even when he was shot of confidence last season he still worked his socks off.
Naismith looks disinterested and playing to about 70% of his potential it could be he needs longer to hit form or is carrying an injury but the last game I went to he misplaced countless passes and was dispossessed far too easily .

I had a sneaky feeling that this was coming, but I expected it would be GM rather than your good self, Gandy. How did the hurling turn out?

    <laugh> Couldn't resist.

Hurling turned out very well. Tipp were on fire. With a late parent from each county, I should have remained neutral in deference to them, but Kilkenny had won the previous two All-Irelands, so feck 'em!

How much longer do you think it will be before he's fit and settled to justify his fee and wages?
