The season begins here, it's got to. The transfer window is shut ... Jay Rod stays, Fonte leads us, Boufal is in the building. It will all click. Oh, and we start our European adventure Thursday. Anyone remember our win at the Emirates in 2014? Would take that again. Following the leads of FLT and thereisonlyoneno7, any negativity in this thread will be banned. This is a positive environment. Recent Form Saints 1-1 Watford (Nathan Redmond debut delight) Man Utd 2-0 Saints (We passed the ball well) Saints 1-1 Sunderland (Jay Rod is back!!!) Watford 1-3 Arsenal Leicester 0-0 Arsenal Arsenal 3-4 Liverpool Last Time Out Arsenal 0-0 Saints Arsenal battered us. It was attack after attack after attack, but we had one man to thank for that - one man on a quest. Super Fraser Forster was a wall at the back, nothing got past him. Possible Team Diamonds will be forever. Forster; Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand; Romeu, Hojberg, Davis, Tadic; Redmond, Austin Fraser Forster is expected to be fit (thank god!) after pulling out of the England squad through injury, whilst Ryan Bertrand could make his first appearence of the season after appearing on the bench last time out. Sofiane Boufal is expected to be out. Hopefully all the internationals tonight will come through unscathed. The Referee Referee: Bobby Madley Assistants: M Perry, E Smart Fourth official: S Hooper COYR!!!
Forster, Cedric, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand, Romeu, Hojbjerg, Davis, Tadic, Redmond, Rodriguez. 2-1 Saints.
Looking for some improvement here. Expect us to get battered for 90mims but hope to show some resilience and a bit of counter attacking flair. Finger crossed.
Prediction: Arsenal 3 - 1 Saints. Can't see us getting much from this especially if we stick with the diamond. Prove me wrongs lads!
I just had a phone call with 'our Nige' for the best part of half an hour ahead of this game and my God, he's every bit as lovely as he seemed.
Can see us getting a hammering here. Arsenal looked good last time out and have 2 new signings too. Worry about Ozil and Sanchez against our one DM. Reckon we might take a shock early lead though. 4-1 home win. 2 massive home games coming up after this.
The odds are firmly in Arsenal's favour, but then they were for the Boxing Day massacre too. We had no right to win that day, we were in poor form going into it, Arsenal were the opposite. 1-2, Saints to score first (Tadic penalty), Arsenal to push and push and equalise in the 85th minute before Southampton nick it at the end with a Fonte header.
