That we get to wave goodbye to Pappa and Son? Looking at their full time in charge. They went from saviours to sinners all due to one stupid idea and a stupid stubbornness in refusing to admit they were wrong. Assem has a habit of not admitting his mistakes and showing no remorse and it seems Ehab is the same. Looking back at their start to now I think the expression is 'how did I come to this'.
It really wasn't one stupid idea. It's their whole attitude to business. Their way of treating people, their obsession with showing their strength by never listening to what anyone else has to say and pretending not to care about the consequences.
Maybe not but by god are they good at it. It was also when the first cracks started to appear as it created a confrontational atmosphere with their own fans. They were more than happy to be as confrontational as you like compounded by their stubbornness of not being wrong. Let us be honest here if they had said 'yeah that was a daft idea sorry' back at the start then they would have lanced the boil, instead we got 'I'm never wrong' when it was clear they were which just finished them in the eyes of many.
It was in that it was the start of the cracks appearing. From then on they were more than happy to be as confrontational with their own fans as they could be.
You know the drill...it will be tomorrow! If they do eventually sell I can see them simply not admitting they have and insisting they still own Hull City Tigers regardless !
If they had, who would have dug us out of the mire at that time. I'm not saying that I am reverting to being pro Allam mind you , heaven forbid.
I'm not just being argumentative here but for me there were problems before the name change. The Barmby situation showed us exactly what they are like and set the tone. Some people were happy to forget what they did to him because the next manager did really well, but it was a sign of things to come. There were plenty of rumours and stories about how they were running the club behind the scenes even then, which all pointed towards exactly what they've turned out to be. They (well, Assem) obviously earnt a lot of goodwill from the initial takeover, which meant that some of the early problems were excused. For me, the name change attempts were just one small part of their utterly contemptible way of running a football club.
I admire their single-mindedness. The way they just went about things, the way they treat the club as a business and didnt get weigh-layed by fickleness and emotion like immature fans on here do.
That's your view and I'm not going to argue against it as you are entitled to it. My view however is that until the name change happened there was goodwill amongst the vast majority and if they had just rolled back from that stupid idea then today we wouldn't be at this confrontational situation. However they didn't because they didn't have it in them to admit they were wrong and at that point this was an unavoidable situation.
If ever the footballing cliche of game of two halves was relevant, for the first part of their reign they were fantastic, and until the Hull Tigers incident there was little to complain about and they were held in such high esteem. Since then, utter shambles with negative after negative. 2-0 up at half time, they've lost 10-2.
