That's now how I feel it looks. It's the same show in town, different setting.

I wouldn't attend a race if you paid me right now.

Race of champions, exciting lineups and a bit of fun in equal cars. Great place to see all your drivers in the skin.
I'm with Alonso on this, if 2017 is similar im switching off and prioritising other sports.

All I learnt was that Heineken is good but drinking is bad.. :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0113-sleep

Yes and no. There's still a decent gap, one that will be hard to bridge (although removing the token limit will be a help). But is that Mercedes unit really that far ahead? if you look at what it's doing in other cars, yes it's the class of the field, but on the most engine dependent tracks, it's not like it's firing terrible cars miles up the grid, it's helping them but it isn't like it's finding them half a second over every other power unit in anything other than the Mercedes works car.

And that, in my opinion, is down to them running trick suspension, which in turn helps the car corner flatter, which in turn makes the aero more stable. Which is also why the merc's biggest weakness is running in Dirty air. For them to always be out the box fast, the car can't be that aerodynamicly sensitive, yet it gets more upset than any other in dirty air? It smacks of a system being upset rather than an inherent car issue.

It's down to the engine maps and their oil supplier. They are able to run harder, longer and reduce knock - they could effectively (fuel permitted) run quali mode all race. However, I do agree that it's not solely the power unit alone.

A little disappointed with some of the thoughts on here and lack of activity. Disgusted again at Nico getting jeered on the podium - there is no need and more importantly can only be coming from a certain section of fans - whoever they are?

I thought the race was Ok and the dual between Ric and Bottas ran all race. I didn't blame the Ferraris for their aggressive strategy, the knew they were beat but gave it a go and Button making up for his 1st lap calamity was refreshing.

A circuit that is made for overtaking with all the long straights and chicanes, its amazing how boring this race was..
No fault of Merc, as it wasn't the fault of RB when they were winning all the time, but please, for the love of this sport, can the other teams catch up already.
Hoping Singapore is a repeat of last year but with the Mercs being a bit stronger, give us a 6 car battle please!

I'd guess Rosenberg are better than Hamilton academical fc. Although I've not heard much of Rosenberg recently. Could be a good match.

Why so chap? There just wasn't a great deal to discuss. The early promise turned to naught.

I didn't see the podium, I just wound up climbing back in bed after the chequered flag. Was the Rosberg booing bad? Was it more anti Merc or or anti Rosberg. Seems a little unfair if it was Rosberg but I can understand everyone being bored to tears with Merc.

Didn't see the podium celebration.. but if they booed Rosberg, thats out of order, I don't see what he's done wrong recently...
Not his fault Hamilton had to start from the back of the grid at Belgium and not his fault Hamilton couldn't get the car off his grid here..

This is something that is being seen more and more in sport. It blighted the Olympics in the summer, though the reason was the Brazilians wanted to create some atmosphere so decided who they wanted to win and lose, and booed that person, apparently meant harmlessly.

Is the same happening in F1? The racing is so bad the fans are creating their own hero's and villains simply to create a bit of interest and fun for themselves? The fact Rosberg seemed to turn them around and have them on side by the end of the podium procedures suggests there was no malice, though it still appears to be unsavoury at first.

I don't see a huge difference between the last 2 races, except Max didn't try and kill someone and the red flag triggered by Mag ruined half a dozen drivers races and promoted Alonso and Lewis artificially.

It just seems unless Lewis wins (generally across media outlets and boards) it's a crap race, but if Lewis drives off that's ok and Nico isn't worthy of a drive. It's like the Lewis and Max PR machines are brainwashing the Motorsport supporters - I'm just finding the whole thing quite shameful really. I, as much as any if you, want proper ding dong racing - but this is what we've had for the last 2 seasons.

I am finding that weird too, Lewis can do no wrong. Even when he doesn't win, all they report about is Lewis. i.e. the report for this race was "Lewis hands Rosberg win after bad start." Not Rosberg did a better job, or anything other than Lewis, Lewis, Lewis. It's being turned into the Lewis Hamilton show, and I'm sick of it.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm a Formula 1 fan, not a Lewis Hamilton fan. He's a top driver, but the sport will continue long after he's left it.

Can't agree with that. When Lewis wins, it seems the trolls come out and try to discredit him as it gets their goat up, so whilst it appears there is more conversation, the general discussion that the race was a bit of a non-event is still there. Notice how certain posters don't appear when Rosberg wins, both people who worship and hate Hamilton.

Am surprised there was less talk about his crap start, but as he said over the radio it was his fault it means there is little reason for people to jump on him. No one has really raved about his 'recovery' drives as they were pretty routine for him with the car that he has at his disposal.

If he wins the next race, expect the board to go back to normal with some more silent members crawling back out again.

It's only because the British media report on a British interest.

When we had few drivers at the top of the sport, the reporting was a lot more balanced. But its been discussed on here many times, the Spanish, German and Italian press are all very partisan as well, so why can't the British media be the same? Is hard to find any non-biased journalism in any walk of life, not just sport.

I don't remember it being so bad with Jenson when he won his WDC, and I really don't mind, and expect the press to be pro the British drivers, but currently all they report on is Lewis Hamilton. I think it's gone a little beyond partisan journalism and moved into the flat out bias reporting.

Memories fade. There was just as much bias for Jenson back then, but remember back then there were at least 2 British drivers winning, now there is only one so the focus is on Hamilton. Back then both Jenson and Lewis were winning so the media scrutiny was split.

At the end of the day, is writing a huge article about a formerly successful driver pounding around in the mid-field really going to generate much interest outside of the dedicated F1 community? The average newspaper reader wants to read the headlines. For a proper review of a race or what's going on down the grid, you need the specialised publications.

    Same goes with TV.

I don't want to read/watch Hamilton every week, I want to hear about the trial and tribulations of what is going on further down the grid, but unless someone like Motors TV (which is anorak heaven for a motorsports fan) gets hold of the rights then we're stuck with what we have. Some of the post race programs on Sky during the week is usually worth watching if you want to get away from Hamilton hyperbole.

I remember it different, if I remember correctly, that years McLaren was an utter dog, and Lewis wasn't close to winning, in Jenson's WDC year the only other car that was any good was the Red Bull if I remember correctly.

And Yes, Jenson, and Brawn did get a lot of press, but it certainly wasn't the Jenson show, it was still about Formula 1 and the different fortunes of drivers and teams. These days Lewis is a geniuses and the only thing that is stopping him winning is the Mercedes team stopping him... Or so some fans and press would have you believe.
