Let me pretend to be the English press: "Our heroes are leading Moldova 3-0 - Wales top the table! The World Cup is ours in 2018!!!"
http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/arti...onal-preview-southampton-players-3292848.aspx 7 Saints involved in international matches...including Targett, Redmond and JWP in England U21 and Fonte for Portugal (don't go near a microphone, Jose....never ends well ).
The problem is basic lack of technique that players from other countries take for granted. The ability to pass accurately, control a ball with a first touch, put crosses into dsngerous areas with speed and accuracy - all missing from the average English players armoury. Lallana seems to be the only English player who can do these things.
Bingo. Until we stop putting pace and power before skill n technical ability (at youth level I mean) we'll continue to achieve **** all.
Don't know Schad, I'm pretty confident you've got this one... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37284033
So Under 21s about to kick off on BT1 vs Norway. Not bad....3 Saints players plus another Academy product in starting line up.
A lot of similarities between the u21's and the first team actually. We just don't seem to have a clue in the final third. As soon as the space is closed down, we lack the technical ability/awareness/movement to create chances. Resort back to long shots.
