Question. With the £ worth less than monopoly money at the moment, why is the Liverpool shop converting GBP to USD at a rate of 1 to 1.6. Crime against humanity.
True actually, countries that drive on the left are well in the minority, it's just Britain and some of the ex-British Empire / Commonwealth countries that do ... 90% of countries drive on the right In other news I sliced my nipple shaving my chest this morning
japan drives on the left. so does Australia and india. south africa... its over a 3rd of the worlds population.
I googled this In the past, almost everybody travelled on the left side of the road because that was the most sensible option for feudal, violent societies. Since most people are right-handed, swordsmen preferred to keep to the left in order to have their right arm nearer to an opponent and their scabbard further from him. Moreover, it reduced the chance of the scabbard (worn on the left) hitting other people. so bascially for germany who would consider itself tutonic etc to drive o nthe wrong side is really pussy. The yanks of course only killed defenceless indians so they'd know nothing of fighting sword to sword on horseback.
Today it still makes sense to drive on the left. Most people (90%) are right handed and so keep their dominant hand on the steering wheel while changing gears or using other controls. Most people (66%) are right eyed and so keep their dominant eye looking to the side where other vehicles are passing most often. Also when driving on the left, the more difficult turns are right turns, again mainly using the dominant eye.
