It does look like we will be a 4 enclosed stands ground and not have the corners filled then

It will be interesting to see IF FSG trigger this anfield road end. Its been called difficult and marginal several times.

It would be kind of mad after all my life looking at the kop as the big block to suddenly see the anfield road end turn out to be bigger and more imposing.

I don't think i will be seeing the centenary stand changed from it current design in the next 20 years.

however that said... I hope the anfield road will be done within next 2/3 years... starting perhaps 2018? my optimisitc hope.

we should park that and thank FSG for funding this development which has plucked us from small time thinking under moores and parry where 12mil for the centenary stand and 3 mil ofr patrick berger was seen as reasons to sell up and the conniving of G&H that neearly ruined us.

LFC is now i the 21st century.

Echo reports new plans for redeveloped walton breck road

The new high street would feature wider pavements, which council bosses say will make it more pedestrian friendly.

It would also see a number of derelict buildings demolished or rebuilt, as well as the creation of new outdoor spaces and trees planted along the road.

Those behind the plans are hoping the changes will attract new businesses keen to take advantage of the busy location.

The work will become the latest phase in the ambitious £260m regeneration plan - which was announced in 2013 as a joint scheme between Liverpool council, Your Housing Group and Liverpool FC.

The latest proposals would affect an area from Walton Breck Road’s junction with Robson Street to the junction of Oakfield Road and Houlding Street.

Part of the plans involve areas which would accommodate temporary markets or shops, as well as facilities for community events.

A new tree-lined avenue with landscaped gardens would also run up Vienna Street and Venice Street from the High Street to Robson Street.


In the next two years there are also plans to build a hotel alongside further housing renovation. Talks on the hotel are understood to be at an advanced stage.

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson said: “We believe we have created a vision for the high street which will absolutely transform the area, supporting existing shops and businesses and attracting new ones.

“We now want residents to speak to us again and let us know if they want these plans to become reality.

“The unveiling of our proposals follows three years of partnership working which have already gone a long way towards creating a more vibrant and successful community. There is much still to be done but today marks yet another milestone in our ambitions to create a brighter Anfield for everyone.”

Your Housing Group Chief Executive Brian Cronin said: “Community leaders and residents will have a major part to play in helping us to shape these proposals and we are extremely excited about progressing our plans.



“Anyone visiting Anfield in the last year can see the improvements which have already been made. Much has also been done through the delivery of new-build homes and the imaginative refurbishment of traditional terraces. We can already see the brighter Anfield which is emerging.”

Ian Ayre, Chief Executive of Liverpool Football Club, said: “Whilst the work on our new Main Stand is approaching completion, we recognise that the creation of a new high street would be transformational for the area, attracting new jobs and creating new businesses. It would make Anfield a better place to live, work and visit.”

deffo with this stuff its opening the area up I can't ever see a kop end rebuild to be bigger with this... never could anyway

Having concourse areas that you'd actually want to spend some time in and have a bevvy, something to eat etc, is exactly what clubs should be doing in order to provide both a quality environment for fans and maximise the revenue they can generate for the club, by ensuring more fans spend their matchday pound at the ground.

It wasn't very comfortable in there when it was chokka but it was deffo better than Everton's monkey cage(boys pen)

I remember going to the derby game at Woodison not long after their new(what looked like a skyscraper at the time)stand was built, the steps were very steep and being at the back of it made it feel like I was gonna tumble into the paddock enclosure miles below if I leant to far forward.
The steps and seats in our new main stand are less steep by the look of it thank ****.
 
what are you lads thoughts on the transformation of the area aorund the ground?

I posted a couple details from the councils plans above.

also as a matter of curiosity what would your views of more houses getting demolished for a future centenary stand development (not planned)
 
The surroundings of the new stand are like night and day in terms of the look and feel of the area as a whole, I feel sorry for the people who lost their homes and community when the cpo's were handed out and the same goes for those affected in any future refurb work, but if its good for future Anfield generation's to have better facilities its worth it(imho)
The local businesses on Oakfield Rd are understandably worried they will lose out either through cpo or financially if further ground improvements get the go ahead along with new shops and bars and an hotel part of the rumoured plans.
