You cant leave us hanging like that trau. What did you have? What was the bar maid like? Details man details
Steady on old boy, I thought Sam had shipped a bit of timber recently. Not quite a svelte nymph and the jowls don't help, but not quite as portly as previously.
I'm amazed Rashford didn't make the squad - literally the only player who performed at or above his level in the euros. Rashford should start every day of the week - and if for some reason you save him when defenders are tiring give him at least 30 minutes As for Rooney imo he either plays up front or you drop him - hence I'd drop him I know Barkley can have off days but he wants the ball, he beats players, he has a killer pass - all the things we lack when moving it forward. Alli misses a starting place for Henderson???? Laughable And I would pick players on form, not ones who've performed in the past. To that point Curtis deserved to make the squad There's plenty more wrong (Hart, Sterling to name 2) but that's enough of my time spent on England
Our FA are the problem. And this "action plan" they have in place. They probably pick the squads and decide how we play and the manager just stands there nodding their head.
Rant commences ... England have been poor for donkey's years. Added to that I cannot stomach God Save the Queen. It eulogizes a nasty-mannered,condescending, privileged woman who I cannot stand, rather than praises the country of our birth. God Save the Queen is a royal anthem, not a national anthem. The House of Windsor is not England. If that isn't bad enough you get a bunch of numbskulls who don't understand that God Save the Queen is supposed to be sung just before kick-off and have done with it, but instead think the (royal) anthem is the chorus for every other song they wail out. I don't like God Save the Queen or the Queen either or Phillip or horsey Anne or the other hangers-on, so usually I don't watch England. Just why I watched yesterday I don't know, but it reminded me not to watch again. Rant continues ... England played like schoolboys, six or seven of them at a time crowding round the ball. They rely on athleticism instead of footballing skills which is why the Premier League is full of foreign footballers. Throughout the match there were big open spaces between the midfielders and those up front ... and that was why England left it to last gasp to score. So how could that happen? Why didn't Allardyce manage and give instructions? Answer: "I don't tell Rooney where to play, he plays where he wants". Something is badly wrong when a small island nation like Iceland beat a country the size of ours, and going by last night in Slovakia, the FA have done FA to put it right. Rant over.
After watching the England game I watched the Norway v Germany game. The main difference between Germany and ourselves is basically they move the ball quicker, and often make one touch passes, rather than taking a touch first before passing.
Since when was it "not for the manager to say" where his players play? Is this a new 'non-managing manager' role that is all the rage amongst football hipsters that I've somehow missed?
I know. When I first heard Sam say that Rooney chooses where he plays, I blurted out "why the **** are you the manager then?".
He's basically removing himself from all blame regarding Rooney's performances. It's ****ing pathetic and if Roy had said that it would be back - and possibly front - page mockery all round. What a fantastic start to the new regime.
Technical skills wise I'd say we're much better off than twenty odd years ago. You can remember Carlton Palmer, Geoff Thomas? Just two that spring to mind.
Everbody relax !!!! Scotland will really be up for the Wembley game November. Wouldnt surprise me if they won.
Personally I havent criticised the performance or the scraping of the result against 10 men, I criticised him saying that in his role as manager it's not his role to manage a player.
I'll concede that much, but even so or a nation our size that has such an interest in football, the mediocre English skill levels cannot be denied. Sepp Piontek always springs to my mind. He ridiculed English football, calling it "kick and rush". Sam Allardyce doesn't come anywhere near Piontek as a manager in my view. Preben Elækjær missed two penalties in a match, then Piontek took him off, saying on TV "I could have killed him!". Then they asked Elkjær what it was like to have played a bad game and Elkjær replied "how the hell should I know?". Or how about Bill Shankly? "Take off that bandage! And what do you mean YOUR knee? Its Liverpool's knee!" Or Tommy Docherty ... "I opened up our trophy room yesterday and two Japanese soldiers came wandering out" Or Brian Clough, "If God intended us to play football in the air he'd have sown grass there" (or something like that) Compare these blokes to Allardyce, who before yesterday's match in Slovenia would be happy with a draw. I'd never have guessed England could sink this low.
He's England's second most in form player at the minute (behind Drinkwater who should have the captaincy let alone a starting spot).
