Shame there isn't another match straight after to see how Allardyce would change things.

It was exactly the same as the last Slovakia game. Why do we only attack in the last 10 minutes when they obviously have no intention to attack us? Rooney does my head in in that number 10 role. He plays so deep and he's been doing that for 10 years, it's nothing new. I'd definitely start Alli. I liked the three man midfield of Alli, Rooney and Dier to be honest. Rooney always ends up in midfield anywhere so we might as well put him there.

Didn't watch it, & to be honest don't really care about England football anymore. It's the first time I think I've just lost interest in International football, probably so have the players. The more exciting matches seem to involve teams that, in the past, have always been classed as nobody's!

Rooney sez he woz playing there 'cos Sam told him to.

Sam sez Rooney plays were he wants and there's nowt he can do to stop him.

    Very revealing these post-match interviews.

Interesting. But Rooney has always played like that. He loves dropping ridiculously deep. For that reason I'd allow for it by making him a midfielder and putting someone else up front. If we want a number 10 stick Alli in there.

He left Kane far too isolated. When Kane's not exactly firing on all cylinders form wise he was never going to conjure things up all by himself. I agree about starting Alli. At least he and Kane have that understanding of each other from Spurs.

He doesn't play the number 10 role, he's getting more like Bastian Pigclimber by the week.

Seemingly in the minority here - but that felt good. Not exactly cathartic but deffo a sense of some sort of cash back.

Injury time winner against a streetwise team built for 0-0 - with the added burden release of the mirror image last game frustration in the Euros.

Most I've celebrated an England goal since God knows when.

I was all for giving him time and acceptance of the fact that Slovakia did nothing but defend for 90 mins, but he brought on Walcott so I no longer have any time for him.

I didn't watch it either. It wasn't until about half 5 (looking at bet365) I realised it was a qualifier. I thought it was a friendly.

Just shows, to me of course, how disengaged I've become from the England team.

Btw, if I knew it was a qualifier I still wouldn't have watched. Not protesting but just not arsed n had other things to do today.

After Ali came on I thought England were very decent. They created plenty of chances. They just didn't score one until right at the end.

At that point they were playing 10 men.

They just don't look a team to me. They don't play for each other. They have lots of fancy touches, can spray the ball about, can take their men on, but the movement and awareness is poor. Also they lack a natural leader on the park.

Yeah, that was an odd one. Maybe Walcott has a role against teams that come at us - but against ten men sitting back, when Sturridge is still waiting to come on? Nah.

Give Allardyce a chance though. He didn't have a friendly to put his stamp on things.

    Heh :emoticon-0100-smile

At about half 4 i was walking back from Spurn point lighthouse and saw many butterflies and indeed, brambles. Thought of Pauline Campbell-Jones and her "baby sitter and bramble picker! " line from League of Gents.

Anyway, we ended up at the Crown and Anchor in Kilnsea for tea and I said to the mrs England were playing. Checked my bets n realised it was a qualifier ha.

    Anyway, I digress....
