1st England goal as well - probably sums up the somewhat average performances we seem to get from them. Still 3 points and we will qualify easily as usual I suspect!
Got a late win last night though - bit of a play-off hang over I suspect. Wolves hammered by Barnsley after only drawing against Burton. A hard set of fans to please at the best of times!
I would like Wednesday and Derby to do well for obvious reasons. If MV does not come up with the goods I think his sale price will seem like very good business for us.......
http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2016-...and's-world-cup-triumph/7826618?section=sport An interesting article about the effects of heading those old leather balls. I have to admit to shying away from heading them as a kid - they're the main reason I became a goalkeeper...
early days yet, I know - but good to see Barrow creeping up into the promotion spots in the Vanarama National League. Have some happy memories of games there and would love to see them back in the FL.
I remember a trip to Aldershot when we played there. Many years later I was on holiday in the south of France when I met up with a supporter of the club just after they had gone bust, and he was heavily involved in trying to ensure their survival. "We will be back one day, but it could take a long time", he told me. There are many clubs that once played league football, and you have to feel for the fans, but for some reason once hooked they will do anything to ensure that the club continues. I would much rather have a chat to one of those than the person who has a season ticket at a PL club and only goes along to see the 'big teams'. I follow just how Forest Green are doing as they are the club nearest to where one daughter lives, and they have Dale Bennett playing for them. They have an owner who instead of improving the pitch with chemical fertilizers gets a local farmer to cover the pitch with manure from a cattle shed. If you would like a hot pie on a cold winter's evening then meat will not be in it. Maybe I shouldn't like the owner who earns his money by ripping off the public with his wind turbines, but he has done a lot for what is basically a village team.
I still follow the fortunes of Hayes town as I was born there and used to go and see them play when I was only 5 or 6
I still follow Gretna as I was born there & my dad used to play for them. Somewhat annoyingly they are playing up here today in the 1st round of the Scottish Cup - annoyingly because my knee isn't up to standing at a football match for two hours yet...
