At the end of the first lap Alonso was 9th and Button last. He made up a lot of places and more than 13 seconds to pass him.
I dunno... it's been a bit dull but the start helped it a bit. If it had been a regulation start it was a procession in the making. Prob 5/10 race. There's not been a single real duel with hurts it I guess
I know he gets a lot of stick here, but I've got to say I've been impressed with Rosberg today, he did everything right.
This should be the shortest race thread of the year, virtually nothing to talk about. A couple of nice moves from Daniel and Jenson though.
Mercedes toying with Ferrari- still quicker than them on two compounds harder . Bar possibly Singapore, they won't be beat again this season. I hope that the others have now switched all direction to 2017 because there are some HUGE gaps to be made up to make this interesting. I think these last two GPs also highlights that whilst we say Honda and Renault have improved, the gap to Merc is absolutely massive. Despite the change in regs, they still need to make huge strides
I really thought the way the start played out we might get something interesting. Hamilton and Verstappen out of position, Wehrlein making a super start. But then Hamilton only had to make 1 move on track (I think, I may have fallen asleep....) and Verstappen made a couple of decent moves but never seemed to be the focus. As you say, a couple of nice moves, but after it settled down after the opening lap or two, everything seemed a forgone conclusion, no real drawn out fights.
I'm becoming less and less inclined to get up for these races. Hope Indy is a bit better, but that's hardly been vintage this season either. Bleh!
There's not a lot left to watch the F1 for right now! Without wanting to bring up a heated old argument- is there ever a chance we can have the return of loud engines and the fastest possible race cars, or are those days behind us?
I think whilst the marketing machines are in control then no.. Why can't anyone compete with F1 and set up a much better product?
I can live without the sound so long as we can close the gaps, give them some reasonable tyres and get rid of to some of the dirty air flow. A few ingredients needed for racing.
Because those in control of F1 have stayed that way by dividing and conquering so that teams can never agree to leave en masse. I'm looking at you Ferrari. But lately, other teams as well.
Every time fans are asked they say less aero and big fat tyres. And maybe ground effect. But this never happens.
Having been to a few races they are quite literally the equivalent of a touring circus. Money making machine with brands etc being sold and the only thing that matters is the money.
