@Chief @Bodanki The new Roses stuff is terrible no doubt, but I don't get the hate for their old stuff, they were a band of their time.

I used to knock about with Mani (bass player) years back. I went to Barbados with him and our girlfriends. Both our birds back then were called Becky - spent a month in St Lawrence Gap smoking all kinds of niceness. This was about 15 years ago though - good times.

Their first album 'Nowhere' was top notch.

Also a big fan of the Wedding Present and The House of Love. Went to see both at a few secret gigs at Student union bars in London in the early 90's

 

Did you go to that seminal Spike Island gig ?

 

I got into Ride a bit as I worked with a couple a lads from Banbury and Ride were the local heroes. They are from Oxford or near there aren't they? Got a couple of their records, they're ok. Ones got a great white shark on the cover. Never play the ****ers though!

I didn't go to Spike Island myself but a couple of mates did. Not so much seminal as ****, you couldn't hear the band apparently. The acoustics were crap. It also pissed down and they ran out of beer.

Yeah Ride were from Oxford area, classic 'shoegazing' band. I've still got some of their Vinyl. I heard that the Spike Island gig wasn't all it was cracked up to be, but it still seems to have gone down as a seminal event. Were you into The House of Love ? I thought some of Guy Chadwick's songwriting was some of the best stuff of that era, definitely ranked alongside The Smiths.

I didn't go to his gigs (or gigs with him, except once), not really my cup of tea tbh. We had more of drug taking relationship back then, we got on because I couldn't give a **** about who he was - I think he liked me more for treating him like I would anyone else. Basically I treated him like a ****, he reciprocated, we got on very well.

I have some crazy stories about our trip to the Caribbean, certainly not appropriate for sharing on here though!!

Kane looks fcuked to me. Would rather see Vardy up front, but then other part of me says wear Kane into the ground so that plays **** for Spurs.

 

I'm genuinely baffled that Henderson is in.

Haven't seen Kane play this season so can't comment. He looked shot at the Euro's though.
