I've said it before on here. It's because we don't make our U21 'stars' pkay in those tournaments like some of the top nations do. They never get to experience the long stays in hotels, the boredom of it all etc. Therefore mentally they're at a massive disadvantage to the top nations hence why at best we're always chuffed with quarter final exits and call them the golden generation for being massive underachievers.
Good. It's a shame he never told Rooney to retire now. If he had I'd have had him as England's greatest Manager before his team had even kicked a ball.
I don't hate him, I have always found him to be massively overrated simple as. I know I'm in the minority with that but I've never found a reason to get excited by anything he's ever done.
He doesn t rate himself though and has nothing to do with the hype. If he want up to it. Jose would get rid.
Admittedly, I'm no expert on the England team or the pool of players at Allardyce's disposal, but if he's picking the best English players, I can't see how he'd select that differently to RH. We didn't lose to Iceland cos they're a superior team. They beat us due to (in no order): tactics, mentality, luck and other variables I've forgotten or no nothing about. So what I hope/expect from Allardyce is that he takes that shell of a team and installs some fight, belief and a plan - then see how it flies.
You could also put Dio's goal against Lester on there then which is similar. Plenty don't rate him either. that's why I said I was in the minority. He went years without scoring in a major tournament as a striker yet people call him world class. That's where I differ. If that was someone else they'd have been dropped.
Top international teams play without fear and know what they're going to do before they recieve the ball England play like rabbits in the headlights and think !!! **** what the **** shall i do with the ball now ive got it. I don't think we,ll see much change in the next decade or so. It's extremely painful viewing and im not sure i give a toss anymore.
This a thousand times. People are so over the top with England. We got knocked out so drop them all! People's expectations are ridiculous. Obviously the squad was going to be mostly the same. Who else should he be picking? Is the Allardyce era going to be exactly like the Hodgson one in this way? Am I going to be an 'Allardyce lover' if I don't jump on the bandwagon? And the idea that the FA for some reason want the manager to pick certain players is so ****ing stupid it astounds me that people seriously seem to believe it. At what point will people accept that maybe these players are getting picked because they're the best ****ing English players?!
If we are picking England's best players then what the **** is Henderson doing in the team .. or even in the squad .. while I agree we are not a wash with world class players Drinkwater proved throughout last season that he is head and shoulders above Henderson .. I sympathise with Allerdyce but I feel he is from the same dinosaur group that Hodgson was in .. and feel he'll just follow the same pattern
Cut the man some slack, he has had the job a few weeks and the players have only had 3 league games to go off. Do you really expect him to pick a new bunch of players who have never played together before and put them into a qualifier? If his first few games had been friendly's he may just have picked a different squad, as it is he needs to get some points and then make changes when the friendly's do come around.
He's managed in the Premier League for how long .. 15 + years .. he has seen who can perform at close hand .. yet he picks a team based on what .. performances ? Sorry but he is from the same mold that Hodgson is from .. it should be now that we start afresh.. give the kids a chance and the form players .. Henderson should not be anywhere near that team
