I think we took a pretty talented bunch of players to the Euros. But they never looked like a team, at any point. So the hope has to be that a different coach can get them playing like one. They all play in the same league as well so it ought to be possible to get them playing a system they are all comfortable with.

He had good feet, Peter Crouch. Never failed to find the back of the net, at every level he ever played at. Naturally he failed at Liverpool, there's some sort of kryptonite for strikers in the water up there.

So the squad can continue to be played out of position and perform utterly ****e?

The point of a new manager is to get the players playing, not come in and pick and entirely different set of players.

I dont think he failed while with us, took a while to get going true but i think most of us quite like crouchy.

I was more having a dig at Fat Sam and England playing hoofball for the next 4yrs at least.

That said, I do find it weird him picking Drinkwater for the squad then playing the hugely inferior Henderson again.

Yeah, I think he scored quite a few for you guys didn't he? Always liked Crouchy, a much underestimated player imo.

Sam's teams may not be pretty to watch. He has a habit of getting the best out of the players available to him though.

Woy never looked like he knew his strongest team. How do you manage to play ten qualifiers and numerous friendlies before getting to a major tournament and still not have an idea of your best team? Never mind only picking five fit defenders <doh>

This is where Big Sam will be different. He'll have a strongest XI in mind and he won't tolerate bullshit performances from players either.

First album was great, as were some of their non album stuff like Sally Cinnamon.
Second album was pretty good but had a couple of duff tracks on it.

To be a best ever you've got to have produced more than that. It's not even a back catalogue, it's a couple of albums.

The Smiths on the other hand never made a single bad track. Not one.
Their B sides are better than most of the Stone Roses's best stuff.

@Chief can't argue that but there's a core of about 12 tracks that I love so much they'll always be a band that I adore(pun). The Smiths I'm not a huge fan and only like some tracks, the ones I do like are brilliant though Please, please, please and There is a light.

Any great tracks I'm missing out on?

Yeah, everything else they ever made!!

Buy Hatful of Hollow. It was an early album that contained previously released stuff so not an original album as such, if that makes sense. It's almost like a greatest hits it contains so much excellence. They did it again with one called The World Won't Listen.

Of the 'original' albums, in my own opinion The Queen is Dead is the finest album ever made. Closely followed by Stangeways Here We Come.

    Then they split up!!

I just love them. I will forever, even though Morrissey is a knobhead.

I grew up with them though, while living in Manchester during the **** mid 80's, so they mean something to me. Don't know if a taffy would get them quite so much!!

Did/do you like the Pixies? They're at the Motorpoint in December, I will be there.

@Chief yeah I was a big Pixies fan but it's not the same without Kim Deal.

I was big into the Manchester scene though and because I left home at 17 and lived in England I got into the music more.

Inspiral Carpets, The Fall and Joy Division were some of my favs.

Got agree with you both, it's not the same without Kim. Last time I saw them was at Ally Pally, must be ten years ago (?) and before they started releasing new stuff and she was with them and it was just the first four albums, all the top stuff. Amazing, genuinely brilliant.

First time was Glastonbury 1989. I'd never heard of them. The blew me away. Man (lad at the time) crush on Miss Deal from there on in.

Haven't bought any of the new stuff but they're on my doorstep so have got to go.

Significantly, didn't bother trying to see the Roses. I also can't bear to even listen to their new singles.

Don't think I would go to see a Dealless Pixies.
Last time I saw them live was in 2004 I think, V festival.
Though I had to sit through Jamie Cullum first before they came on <ok>
Was funny, loads of Pixies fans turned up, with tattoos and piercings and ****, and they wheel out Jamie Cullum <laugh>
Crowd was confused to say the least, but they didn't give him too much stick.
