It's all cobblers with Ferrari right now. "Oh we're upgrading but we don't expect a big difference" Aye ok. That'll be Ferrari code for "We're going to run with less wing to look competitive in a straight line, but when we're actually further away from Mercedes and Red Bull, we can point at the speed traps, say we're doing a good job and just blame the chassis again".
LOL, can read them like a book. they're running visibly a very skinny rear wing, hitting near 220mph with no tow but look likely to swap ends through the faster corners and well off the Mercs so far.
I think we're at the same point with Merc as we were with RBR in 2014. The team are miles ahead and can't be caught, with everyone focusing on he next reg change. Similarly one team mate is a bit better than he other. I don't expect anyone to beat Merc all season, unless that bizarre Singapore thinghappens again. I'm still convinced Bernie put hard tyres on them that weekend under disguise because they wouldn't supply RBR an engine.
If only Merc were slow, unreliable and completely hamstrung by an incompetent Renualt - 2013 I think you mean!
I love the pic Sky are leading their Mad Max articles with. "Ner na ner na ner ner, I'm not listening." please log in to view this image
Bottleberg never fails to disappoint. Borefest. Can't knock Ham, with all the new engines up his sleeve it's a cruise to Abu Dhabi. Force India did well. Gutierrez puts in a good lap. Tbh best for Massa to retire now being that far behind Bottas with 8 races left. Mclaren have made 'great strides' my ass.
Rosberg is the least competitive teammate ever. Anyone else think his new contract includes a second driver directive?
Honda worse than ever for me, in a dog fight with Manor, dauber and 2015 Ferrari PU on one lap pace! Shocking
I expect it will take another couple of years for them to be challenging for any type of win. Very disappointing.
Nah we should all know Rosbergs capabilities by now. A bit like Top Gear "ambitious but rubbish". What we are seeing is an example of a driver (Hamilton) reaching his absolute limit in terms of performance and talent. Outclassing the whole field and other teams around him. I do admire that. But it does make for rubbish TV.
Sadly I don't think you are right. We've seen through this career that Hamilton doesn't really do perfect and when pushed will make mistakes. I think what we are seeing is a situation where 70-80% of Hamilton is plenty to wipe the floor with a very average teammate and no other competitive cars.
I'm not sure there are any drivers out there who don't make mistakes under pressure now, come to think about, has there even been anyone who isn't prone to the odd error when having to give 100% all the time? If you're constantly at the limit, every so often you will go over it. As you say, Hamilton is making less mistakes at the moment as it doesn't seem like he has to drive at 100% to beat Rosberg when all things/cars/reliability are equal. If he is back in the field in 2017 should the new regs shake things up a bit then the microscope will be on him a lot more.
Even if the regs change to an extent that Mercedes are crap, I doubt Lewis will start to be outperformed by x teammate. He will retire as soon as he knows he is turning rusty, so we won't have a chance to scrutinise him like we are scrutinising Seb's challenge in Ferrari. Seb on the otherhand is well under pressure. Either he and Ferrari turn into a diamond, or the dream shatters. We have had two seasons and only three wins... How many more? Would have been good to see Lewis take up the challenge of reviving a crap team. Joining Mercedes in 2010 or Haas this year perhaps would have been interesting, maybe he will join Williams and try and help develop them.
If the pay cheque was big enough then maybe he would consider it. That's the only reason why any driver joins Ferrari. No guarantees of success but you'll get paid handsomely for driving an average car and if it all fails you can blame it on internal Italian politics.
Lewis just waiting for Seb to make Ferrari a winning team and then he will jump straight in - especially when he wins his 5th title next year!
