I've been reading this thread with some amusement. "Maybe he didn't like Ipswich and Glasgow", "maybe he's lost his way a bit", "give him a chance" etc. Leeds are in serious trouble:
stupid signing.. we need a LB not a 6th CB, and if they try to play him out of position itl be like shane lowry all over again
Grayson on the OS now, why on earth are we signing another squad player??? ffs, sign players who we intend to start to make us better! as you said at the very end of last season Mr Grayson! Soz Essex, there is soooo much space in there! ha ha
O'Dea is soo ****. This is such a bad signing. I really, really hope he never plays. Why do we even need him? He's a CB, but we already have 5 who are better. He can barely play LB, but we already have Parker, Aidy White and Bessone (all better than O'Dear).
2006 ac Milan won champions league , o'dea played both games in the last 16 tie ,Milan failed to score in 180 mins , he is better quality than you already have
I think one of Bruce or Bromby will be going, Parker is always either injured or ****, White isn't a left back and Bessone will never play for us again.
FFS the kid hasn't played for us yet and the bitching begins...give him a bleeding chance. He's not officially signed yet though, has he? Leeds and Celtic have agreed a loan deal in principle.
Looked on a couple of other forums and people are generally positive about it. Majority of people who've spoken to Ipswich fans report that he actually did pretty well and put some hard work in, but the Norwich performances were poor and for obvious reasons, they're the ones that stick in the majority of Town fans' minds. He doesn't look ideal as the left-back who'll fearlessly play 46 games and win us promotion (in other words, we could and should have done far better), but he shouldn't be written off as a dud. Yet.
News item on the official Leeds United web page about Darren. Seems he had a trial with Leeds when he was 13 !!
He was with Home Farm, the club who produced (IIRC) Harte, Kelly and McPhail, so it's hardly surprising. Think we used to have a feeder club kind of arrangement with them.
Right as someone who watches Celtic five or six times a season, I can tell you O'Dea is utter drivel, a poor centre half who somehow has made a career out of football. He isn't good enough for the SPL, so even I would agree this make him very unlikely to be anymore than average league 1 standard. What I can tell you is that he is cheap, his wages are nowt really and this will have been the biggest influence on the part of Bates "chatting" with Grayson. If we are lucky, the lad will get injured before he gets anywhere near the first team and then be sent back to Celtic, who want rid of him a.s.a.p.
White is a left back, he has the potential to be the best attacking left back in the division. It's only Grayson who's said he isn't a left back, despite giving him his only start of last season at left back against Doncaster and him being outstanding.
Ooooooh shi t we are dooooomd, relegation next, non league in three years Let kick him out and sack everyone. Everyone to the pumps, the ship is sinking!!!!!!!!
Clivetime, Grayson never said that White isn't a left back. He said that he saw him more as a winger.
He wasn't outstanding against Doncaster, he got done a few times and we were lucky not to concede that game (lucky not to score too for that matter). Whenever I've seen him at left-back, he's been shaky and looked incapable of reading the wingers he's meant to be combatting. Typical case of Kieran Gibbs syndrome: winger who's forced into defence and ends up making some good forward runs but doing FA else.
