Just been for a run. Had a month off and paid for it in the last third. Going to have to focus for the next 3 months.

What distance do you run? Im a lazy basterd nowadays. I find running boring but play 6 a side footy about 3 times a week. That does the trick.

Nowadays I find running boring but it is the best way to maintain and track constant fitness without paying a gym to lie to you. A few years ago I decided to give running a go and fell in love with it but only up to 10k. At my fittest I'd happily do 10k every day. Nowadays I'm old and unfit so I run 5-6k with a view of getting up to speed to run a 10k in a respectable time.

Where do you go to surf Piskie. When I was young before motorways were invented we used to drive from London to Newquay on Friday nights after work, arrive for breakfast, surf on Saturday and Sunday and drive back in time to go to work on Monday. Knackering but worth it. There is good surfing near me now but the knees say no.

I'm based way out west so my local breaks are Sennen, Porthmeor, Godrevy and Praa sands, Porthleven on the south coast. Plus a few secret spots that light up when the swell is pumping. Where are you living now ? Have you thought about getting a sponge if the old knees aren't what they were used to be ?

I remember coming on holiday to Cornwall as a lad from London, before the roads were improved. My Dad would set out around 3am and it would take us all day until the evening before we arrived. We used to stay up in Bude in those days on a caravan park up near the satellite dishes.

... had most holidays in Newquay as a kid ... old man used to drive down from Leicester (7 hour drive) ... we'd set off just after 10pm and drive through the night ... no motorways ... loved it ... great memories ...

Working till 19:30 then popping by Halfords to pick up my new Carrera Vengeance 2015 model, then cycling down to the local rowing club to scout the new location for my new hobby. Might even pop into the ale house for a shandy on my way home, depending on if I decide to purchase a D lock for the Carrera.

South of Spain near to the Atlantic coast. Anywhere from Cadiz to Tarifa is sometimes OK for surf but apparently the best is El Palmar. Big plus is the sea is warmer than most places in Europe

I don't know the area that well. I have a couple of friends who go to Tarifa for windsurfing. I go to Portugal, Sagres area when I can as mate has house down there. Also try and get out to Morocco in the winter when I can. We tend to spend a month down at a place called immesouane, near Agadir in the south. Not much there other than a perfect long right hand point break.

Then when I can afford it, I'll spend a month in California. I have friends in San Clemente, right on top of trestles beach, then down the road is San onofre my favourite break in the world. I've also got some friends in ojai which is up near Santa Barbara county and the Rincon, that is a magical place and even though it's right on top of the freeway, it's a beautiful place to surf. Then further north there is a wonderful little place called Carmel by sea near Monterey bay. It's gorgeous up there, lots of elephant seals in the line up, which makes me nervous as there are also some big sharks up there too. I never surf at dawn or dusk up there !

You'd remember the big disco tent at Watergate bay then.

What about Vegas? I hear it's cracking in August.

Just got tickets to the World Athletics Championhips. Gold medal session, seats in front of the home straight. Result.

Judging from where you surf the south of Spain may not be challenging enough for you, but there are other compensating attractions
