in fairness you've called it on ilori. the lads is pacy, the lad is a good young player but physically he's not up to the top leages. Klopp took one look at him and knew it.. same for alberto. decent player there but not a pick on him its like coates. I remember looking at him play oldham in FA cup and i was thinking.... what the **** have you been doing for 2 years. you must never have stepped into a gym or lifted a weight as I watched this 6'5" CB get bullied by a journeyman and having to hand the player off to skertl.... these guys need to grab their opportunity and develop themselves. Everyone knows what a premier league game is like... theres no shocks, not after 6 months. some players just are not willing to do the developmental work sadly. When you get a player like say sterling. He should never really have made it. at 15 i saw a little midget who never looked up. At 16 he's looked like he learned. at 19 he looked like he was stronger than players like amoo who just bullied kids and never learned. The guy is a unprofessional **** in some ways off the pitch but on it as much as LFC fans would like him to nose dive... well he's proved time and again he'll go the extra mile to be the best he can be.. If markovic, alberto and ilori had tried to do that and not run off on laon to easy leagues to hide..... wellllllll..... The point is every time i see someone go on loan from LFC to a foreign club its been to hide. Suso pacheco, alberto, aspas, markovic, badontelly etc etc. we are not cheslea, we don't have development agreements. they all just run off and sit about pushing lesser players about or just playing to that lesser level and they just don't some back better.
Premier League is different from other leagues, opposition do not give you time to think, too physical for some players also. What can be regarded as a foul in other leagues is not a foul in the premier league. That's why some players found it difficult to settle in the premier league in their first year. Players like Alonso , Suarez gelled immediately. I think Matip is not going to have too much problem also.
What's the latest on this tobes? I read on Echo site yesterday about the Dock area again but lovely as it would be having a stadium on water front, doubt it will happen at the proposed site.
yes dead right. they are all talented lads in fairness. nobody is a pro footballer without talent. They need to adjust quickly. they need to look about the dressing room day one and see... oh.. this lot are pure power. I need to get in the gym! Alonso is a good example. he was tough as nails day one. Squarez was a street fighter. Matip looks a bit thin if i'm honest. it will be interesting to see his first game against a brute of a forward... like benteke....
Joe Anderson was pushing for the club to take the site at Stonebridge Cross, partially through self interest, as it's a problem site for the council. In Bill's days he might well have succeeded, but Moshiri wasn't having it I'm told. Instead they've been in negotiation with Peel over doing something on the Liverpool Waters project, which has seen virtually no movement since Peel got planning consent 4 years ago. I was told a couple of weeks ago that the club had reached agreement to buy the Bramley Moore dock and a piece of adjoining land, and that it'd be announced about now'ish. So we might have something official very soon mate.
A waterfront site is attractive, but the traffic problems would be crazy, unless EFC have to improve access roads as well as build the ground.
I was only having some fun with Jimmy tbh, based on our previous conversations about the pair. Buying prospects always comes with risk and the drop off rates are high. Which is why I think you're right there and clubs should spend more time assessing the mental strength and character of these young lads and not just judging their 'potential' on what they can do with their feet. The lad who was at United, then West Ham, then to Europe and now I've no idea comes to mind (can't remember his name) but he had all the talent in the World, but he was a scrote. The fact that he was a scrote over road his talent.
There'd have to be a traffic plan, park and ride maybe, road improvements, new bus terminal etc, but it'd be worth the effort imo. Very exciting prospect for us Blues mate.
Ravel Morrison and i think he is still at Lazio though apparently available in the window. fergie lobbed him to WHam in an attempt to break the link with his mates but it appears he didn't need any help in being a egotistical twat
I meant people arguing with you, they were defending Jimmy I replied to Jimmy saying the two players lacked talent
I know Joe got himself in hot water over the Stanley Dock development. He was pulled back by English Heritage as he had completely ignored or overlooked the fact that they were going to pull down the largest brick building in Europe which is protected to the hilt. The Bramley Moore dock is similarly protected but it goes a lot higher than English Heritage, it's protected by unesco as a World Heritage Site of Outstanding Universal Value. The engine house or whatever it's called, can't be touched and it's the odd little brick buildings like this along the waterfront that are stopping Peel's development as they have to be incorporated into their plans or building anything can't go ahead. I seriously doubt a stadium would be allowed on this site. The dock walls and basins are Grade II listed. Personally, I think the images for a waterfront stadium look great. The city needs 2 great football stadiums and while ours is staying at it's spiritual home, yours will be a show piece wherever it ends up.
What's stopping Peels development is largely a lack of investment interest mate. They need a catalyst to kick start the redevelopment. A stadium and it's associated infrastructure might suit that purpose for them. As for the UNESCO listing, my understanding of that is that they have no right to veto anything, they can merely advise and if they see fit remove the status, but I'm not an expert in this field so correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know what the Liverpool Waters planning had as part of it regarding the dock, but I'm sure the issues can't be insurmountable hence the in depth discussions (and if my source is correct, and actual deal)
You're right unesco can't veto anything but they have removed Liverpool from World Heritage list as a result of the Peel plans, something the Council aren't happy about and are trying to get back. English Heritage have put protection on the site, so the government will back it up which is why I can't see them allowing a stadium on this particular site. With regard to Peel they have a few investors lined up from what I've heard. There's plans lodged with the Council for an £80m apartment block as part of the Liverpool Waters scheme. It will be interesting to see if it goes ahead because the council really don't want to damage the heritage status and simply can't touch the listed buildings. You only have to look to see the type of developments on the waterfront.
Sounds like a formality. I expect Tobes' photo from his new seat to arrive any day now. Just like those 10 new signings.
