    No!!! If we take a being the base and b being the height and c being the hypotenuse, how can b be longer than c?? You are a ****ing fraud! I hate you.

    Don't confuse me with technicalities and whatnot, besides the width does not matter it's the height that's important.

    I'm going to pop into Curries on Jamaica St and measure a 46" TV to see what width it is.

    The height can't be longer than the hypotenuse though. Good God, man, don't you know anything??

    I know they measure TV's on the diagonal. Does anyone know the approximate height and width of a 46" wide screen tv, and/or a 42"?

    Best Answer: 46"--about 43"-44" wide and 29"-31" tall
    42"--about 39"-40" wide and 22"-25" tall
    Hope this helps. With a model # you can go to the manufacturers website type in the model# go to specifications and get the dimensions.
    Source(s): Retail Sales

    OK the dimensions will differ depending if it is regular 4:3 or widescreen 16:9.
    For regular the calculations work out approximately 34.77inches long, and 26 inches tall (46" tv)
    For Widescreen we are looking at 46.8 inches long, and 20.7 inches tall (46" tv)
    For regular 42" it will be 31.75 inches long, and 23.8 inches tall
    For Widescreen 42" it will be 33.6 wide and 18.90 inches tall.
    Please note, this is the SCREEN component only, i have not added any inches for the frame which will differ from brand to brand.
    I have used pythagoras theorem to deduct these values. I'm a bit rusty on my algebra but it looks right to me when I draw it to scale.

    <rofl>

    Did you send a tweet to Panasonic or did you just send a random tweet saying "Panasonic"?
