Ristac, not sure I entirely agree with you mate. I think we have a very unbalanced squad, four goalkeepers, one full back on either side covered by a RB / LB in berrardi and a couple of kids. We're heavily oversubscribed in central midfield and we're hoping the signings gel and are better than last seasons squad but we don't know that yet. Both strikers at the moment look like they'll need plenty of chances to score. I agree with Eire on another thread that the squad is still average and a lot depends on the coaches and how they set up. My concern is that last season Evans came in and made us hard to beat by having Bridcutt and big Dave to shield the dodgy central defenders and seemingly going back to basics. Everyone playing to their strengths and keeping things simple, it came at a cost of chances / shots on target. My worry with Monk (not digging him out before I get jumped on) is that he's only used to dealing with premiership players and wants to play a style that our players might not be good enough for. I caveat the above as always that this only based on the games I watched, so very interested for the opinions by those in attendance.
At the end of last season, I would like to have seen Evans get a renewed contract and a budget and backing to match that of Monk, I'm not convinced by Monk in the slightest I believe he is going to come up well short but... I said let's give Monk a chance, I hoped Cellino would back Monk and support him totally. Monk wanted Beattie and Clotet, he got them. Monk (I believe) has been the one calling the shots on who we bring in. I can knock Cellino for releasing Evans but not when it comes to bringing in players and selling players Monk does and does not want. Cellino has backed the coach totally this time. I was bemused why Ayling when we have Coyle and Berardi, Berardi has been injured and many have said Coyle is not quite ready. At the time I thought what an excellent move, the experience of Green, the upcoming Peacock Farrell and we sell Silvestre. Well nobody was interested in Silvestre and Green has been a nightmare. Our Midfield is over subscribed but who caused this? Monk wanted the players, he was the one who said to Murphy and Diacouraga no future. Personally I am glad Cellino never shipped out Diacouraga on the cheap because the next manager in might need him. To be honest, if Monk had come to me and asked for another central midfielder I would have said no. Cellino has backed Monk right up to and including deadline day, if we don't improve my finger pointing this time will be at Monk
Not digging Monk out in the slightest just thought that Evans knew he was dealing with championship players whereas Monk thinks he ca adopt a premiership mentality. I sort of agree on the signings with the exception of Bridcutt who was here last year and pretty sure we were sniffing around roofe before monk took over.
Didn't say what you did or didn' t say Grandad Chose to use the player you quoted to prove how right I was and thanked you for putting him up
How can you be right if there was no dispute in the first place Did you win an argument with yourself then ?
Thanks for admitting I was right (as per) No argument to win as even you can't dispute the cold hard truth
