They made a canny profit in a short time. Ha'way Schlong prove the frog twats wrong. The French media are truly astonished by Sunderland’s signing of Didier Ndong from Lorient. There’s been differing figures claimed for what has been paid by the English club, but on transfer deadline day,France’s RMC put the figure at €20m. They said that when Sunderland offered that amount, the leaders at Lorient ‘almost fainted’ at the size of the potential deal, because they’d never expected someone to offer anything like that for the player. On Friday, it’s the turn of French newspaper L’Equipe to express their astonishment at the deal. They also claim the transfer is worth €20m (including bonuses), and point out the 21 year old only cost €1m in January 2015. L’Equipe quote the player as saying on July 31st: “I still need much improvement here and to make a good season. I think Lorient still needs me and I still need the club.” L’Equipe title the piece: ‘Ndong, the moment of madness’. They go on to say the ‘madness of the English offer’ doesn’t reflect the reality of Ndong’s recent performances. It’s now up to him to prove the French media wrong.
Yep. When the deal first broke, I seen a view clips from the French media who couldn't seem to get their heads around the size of the bid we had put in.
Not really bothered what the papers think - I remember Moyes paying £15m for Fellaini - a 21 year old from Standard Liege (OK better side but still in a poor league all in all) and turning him into a phenomenal footballer. I trust in what Moyes is doing.
I don't care what the papers think, but it seems like we could have probably went in with half of what we paid as a starting bid and negotiated from there. Bain out!
We might have for all we know though and negotiations may have taken us that way! My guess is Moyes says "Max he's worth is £x million" and the club start their negotiations. Very much doubt we just went in and said "Here's 15 million euro's for that lad in midfield" - We paid £8m for Djilobodji and none of us had much idea about him. Guessing this lad will be the same.
With his suspension, is it not the case that this U23 cup counts as a senior game? If so can we say that as he is 22 we want to play him so that counts as his suspension?
