I'm an infrequent poster at best, but an avid reader all the time. I've had some fantastic belly laughs at some of the topics/comments. But I get annoyed at the seemingly constant bickering and negativity. To the point that if we lose I don't come on for a few days just because I don't want to read how ****e everything is (at the end of the day it's just a game). I have stared to figure out the sense of humour of most people (not at all, lol). But like many others it is a link from home with like minded individuals which keeps me coming back.
Nowt much has changed really Comm. People come and go, have hissy fits, give us the wisdom of their knowledge, talk a load of ****e and generally take the piss out of each other big time. We could always do with some new blood, but I hear that new members can't join any more. Is that correct?
Agree with this Smug, many a time decent threads get hijacked and we loose the gist of what was intended. I've no problem with lads having a laugh, but there are times posters have to think how their actions are affecting threads. I'm not the thread police on here its just an honest observation.
Good idea for a thread. I'm exactly the same on here as in real life, I love the club and fans and I get to every game I can. I come on here for a laugh and can't abide constant whinging or people who can't have a joke. Off topic threads don't always interest me so I just let people waffle on and call each other puffs and whatever without me chipping in. So I find it annoying when decent football threads are invaded by people who just seem to want to post things that will derail them. I believe in honesty and I always post the truth no matter how unbelievable it may seem to some people. I've had a wild extraordinary life and can only talk about myself in that context. I'm always decent with people who are decent with me no matter what views they hold or whether I agree or not. I always try to respond in kind and will return courtesy with more of the same and I'll always try to help follow supporters. But, as in real life, if I get people taking the piss, or throwing out personal insults, I'll always fire back with both barrels.
Common. Pretty much as Dorset has said, the biggest pity is those posters who have left the Forum and not returned for whatever reason. Things move and and to think the Forum has survived from the BBC days is pretty good going and when you look at how little other Premiership clubs Forums are supported (or not) then were not in bad shape.
We are similar but different in many ways. I will quite happily throw 2 marbles at a cup and know one will land time after time, like me you take problems face to face, hate the internet and social media for the gobs that hide. I too am very much in real life like I am here but to me typing words and forming opinions just doesn't register the same. The thing is with me, this place is a escape when it suits, like the old bbc was, meeting the lads in the flesh and hearing their vibe was always going to win for me.. Like you, I seem to upset people on here, I don't give a ****, swap for 24 hours and you might get a gist of where I come from.. There's a few I respect on here, people I did but no longer do, but for me at the end of it all, it's faceless people and typed words and nothing else. A place to escape to where fellow Safc fans gather, I could never share the same opinions in the ground with them, so I have no chance here..
I have tried a few other football forums, but for one reason or another I find this one suits me.. There is a good cross section of strong characters on here, which inevitably leads to confrontations every now and again... I differ from SAFC83 in that I have really enjoyed meeting a fair number of people from here, some of who I am now proud to call friends..
I really had to laugh when some Mag came on here to say I was hated on this board. As you, and others know only too well, my door is always open to the decent lads on here. I have one here, at the moment, and at least 3 others will visit before the end of the year. I don't come on here to make friends and I alienate people because I say exactly what I think ......... that's just too bad. But I'm a deliberately decent bloke who always tries to be straight with everyone, support my club and have a laugh. If people don't like that then I can live with it without blinking.
It's a great forum, I am splitting my sides open sometimes with the humour. Don't post much coz of time constraints etc, but do keep in touch with what's going on with the forum most days. It's very useful with all of the ITKs we have , even the ones I don't see eye to eye with. Would love to meet some of the great characters we have on here, and I hope it happens one day!! The only people I have an issue with are very few, but tend to be Mag-Lovers and wannabe MODS!! Otherwise I love you all - ya daft kernts. Bart
As one of the newer posters, I'd just like to say that there are very few people who don't make a positive contribution in one way or another. There are a variety of characters and a variety of opinions and that keeps it interesting. I come here because I want to talk about football and about our club. I ignore anything that doesn't interest me and I see no point in getting wound up by things that are said here. That said, I do find it frustrating when people aren't willing to discuss a football issue and simply resort to insults. I think those who devote a lot of their time to it do a great job and should be thanked. I wouldn't really change anything about it on here- if I did think that, I just wouldn't bother coming on.
Love this forum. I've tried rtg and syd's new one but can't get away with them. I have been part of this since the 606 days. Have met a few (bri, 83, smug briefly, reg, vince) and thought all were spot on face to face. Had run ins with people and always will. Cattermole is world class I tells ya
I am keeping track on your business mate. Some topper music nights. The food looks good. And whats that new beer coming soon? Almost black. Looks very guiness like. @Blunham Mackem would like that. Looks great.
